Who are some good examples of fighters who lost the rematch and still carried on.. can someone add to the list? Vernon FOrrest (Lost rematch against Mayorga) but continued his career George Groves (Lost rematch to Carl Froch) but continued career David Price (Lost remtatch to Tony Thompson) but continued career
Jake LaMotta lost five of his six fights with Sugar Ray Robinson and kept soldering on. Archie Moore lost all three fights to Ezzard Charles and moved on. Harry Greb lost four of the five fights with Gene Tunney. Eder Jofre lost both bouts with Fighting Harada and had a good career after that.
Can't believe I missed Kovalev!! smh.. good point with Forrest beating Mosley 2x, yet Mosley went on with his career.
Boxing fans are over reactionary. I'll propose a timelines of events which I'm not saying I think will happen, but I'm saying it's totally possible and I wouldn't be the least surprised if something like it did happen Ruiz wins rematch AJ beats a bum in a comeback Ruiz fights Wilder and loses, Wilder becomes undisputed AJ beats Whyte in a rematch Ruiz Jr rematches Parker, clearly unmotivated and in terrible condition he gets stopped by Parker and fades into obscure journeyman territory. Wilder sees there's still money on the table for an easy win over AJ Wilder, who isn't defensively responsible, misses with a wild swing and gets chinned by AJ inside 30 seconds AJ is the undisputed champ. Now, again before people start overreacting I'm not saying I think that will happen, in fact I'd strongly favour Wilder to beat AJ if they ever fought. BUT if we are sitting here in 12 months and that version of events had transpired, I wouldn't be shocked, not at all.
You pretty much just described a typical scenario in the UFC!! haha.. where everybody beats each other... and theres no 1 consistent champ (besides Khabib of course)
