Tyson vs Holyfield 2 is easily the most famous DQ in all of boxing. Nothing else really comes close.

I agree that Akinwande's holding was excessive. But, he did drop Lewis in round 3. (A fact that gets swept under the rug a lot)

I remember Jim Lampley interviewing Bowe and Golota before the rematch ....Golota told Bowe his trunks were a little high and winked at him

Jack Sharkey had a way of involving himself in DQs — won several fights by them (including one where he got knocked down 5 times in one round and again in the next against Jim Maloney and claimed foul on the last knockdown and was awarded the victory).

And of course losing to Schmeling and his foul claim against Dempsey that led to the KO.

I wish we knew more about Mysterious Billy Smith, credited by Boxrec with 22 losses — 11 of them by DQ.

Doc Kearn told AJ Liebling of Billy: He was always doing something mysterious. Like he’d step on your foot and when you looked down he’d bit you on your ear.

None of the Mysterious One’s disqualifications are famous, I guess, but he’s probably the most famous guy for being DQ’d all-time.

Andrew Golota was always cracking jokes in interviews, but they were cut out or there was just a language barrier. And HBO back then was basically in charge of marketing a boxer's image, and that wasn't the 'storyline' they wanted to project when it came to him.
