Too many to name but i think Pac and Duran at Welter would be vicious and exciting, with Duran stopping him late in fight of the century type war.

    Williams-Armstrong.

Armstrong only went one way. Williams could box well, but really, he'd want to get Armstrong out of there as quickly as possible.

Two mesmerising punchers. Both in my top five, all time, for offensive capability - one was unstoppably consistent, the other struck like an opened bag of snakes (huh?) when the time felt right.

You're forgetting some key factors.. first dempsey didn't hit harder than marciano...not sure where you got this notion from. I say they are very comparable... Dempsey didn't have the Chin rocky had.. and that would be the difference in the fight. Dempsey also didn't have the stamina nor the heart of rocky.. again difference makers when size and speed and power are comparable. I just can't agree with much of your post.

I base my opinions of the respective merits of Jack Dempsey and Rocky Marciano based on opinions of most all boxing pundits of Marciano's reign, who saw them BOTH at their best K, no more and no less. You base your opinions on WISHFUL thinking. For example, and not to gloat, I saw Ray Robinson at his absolute zenith as a welterweight several times. Thus I would think I was closer to the truth about the abilitiy of Ray Robinson, more so than someone today perusing the record books.
Why shouldn't the opinions of the men who saw both Dempsey and Marciano at their best's, not have more validity than yours ?
And YES Dempsey was a BETTER two-handed puncher than Rocky was, with
much, much faster handspeed, and the Manassa Mauler was one tough and rough *******... Cheers...

Vic, not to be repetitive, Beau Jack [first pro main event fighter i saw],was the most action filled fighter I ever saw. Bar none. I saw Beau Jack at his prime, against the likes of Bob Montgomery,Ike Williams,a fading Henry Armstrong in 1943,and many more thrilling bouts. It is a crime that the only film [I believe] of Beau Jack was the fight in 1948,with Ike Williams
in Philly,in which as a youngster, I and a schoolfriend buddy traveled by
bus to see. Beau was worn out by then and was almost killed by a negligent referee, who allowed the helpless Beau to be battered by the vicious punching Ike Williams.A night to remember for me,and a few hours later I,and my buddy was arrested in Atlantic City. But no one on ESB,has seen films of the young Beau Jack who SOLD OUT MSG ,SEVEN times in one year. He was something to see, yessir.
And yes Vic,Beau Jack against the human fireplug Rocky Kansas would have been a war,as well as Beau Jack, against the prime Henry Armstrong, not the 1943 fading edition I saw, lose to the younger Beau Jack. Cheers...
