Curious which fighters you guys consider to be much stronger than even their size and physical appearance would suggest.

    Foreman
    Marciano
    Sullivan

^those 3 were built like bulls but still seemed to have freakish strength outside the physique

Wilder (I've seen him lift a good 180lbs-ish ref through the air like he was nothing, when the ref was trying to hold onto Wilder)

Though raw lifting strength matters little I boxing, moreso the force youre able to put behind your punches. Raw strength always helps in a clinch though.

I believe Hagler stated in "the best I faced" that Mugabi had the strength of a light heavy

I would mention Jack Johnson. By today's standards he wasn't the Galveston Giant, but I believe he was far stronger than simple tale of the tape measurements. Look at his fights with Jeffries and Willard for example. They weren't physically dominating him while being bigger men, if anything, he seemed physically stronger (especially against Jeffries). McVey and Joe were very strong men, and Johnson controlled them relatively easily.

    Agreed.
I'm also pretty sure that Johnson methods in the clinch could be applied to MMA quite effectively.
That's how good he was at controlling the opponent.

Johnson wasn't a giant by his own era's standards, in fact he was 1" shorter than his average opponent.

Besides that, if you ever look at pictures of Johnson when he was younger, you can tell he's jacked out of his mind. Must've been a strong dude for the arm clinches. I once read a TOTT for Johnson that listed him as having a 6' 3/4" wrist, which I almost don't believe!

    Good pick

Sonny Liston? He was a man of six foot one, and he was build like a rhino but still his prime weight was small for a heavyweight, around 210lbs. I have no doubt he would out muscle a certain Ibeabuci

"Strongest" Sor Rungvisai and George Foreman are the first guys that come to mind.

Most Physical is Bernard Hopkins he consistently pushed around around guys who were bigger than him. Honorable mention to most physical: Andre Ward and Tim Bradley

He outmuscled Williams, so I'd believe it

That being said 6'1" 212lbs is incredibly thickly built, especially for Liston's medium sized legs (being generous). Man had the chest of a barrel (the average weight a heavy back then was 195ish at 6'1")

I've heard several times that Terry Norris could bench press 350, which knocked my ego a bit because when I was sixteen I was pretty pleased with my ability to bench 210 at a weight of ~165 despite no regular weight training, only push-ups and pull-ups.
