Duran's superb, brave & gutsy effort against the resident 160LB superbeast in Hagler:deal.:bbb Duran stepped up in 83 where other feinthearts such as SRL & Hearns feared to tread:yep
Sung Kil Moon, the day after losing his longtime trainer (to death) took an absolute shellacking against Khaokor Galaxy in their 2nd fight. He should've been stopped in the 11th (given a mental reprieve by the ref' who called a standing 8-count as Moons dense chin took an incredible amount of shots) but despite going down once in the same round, he lasted the duration, absorbing a frightening beating against a very talented fighter.

situations where a fighter is getting beaten up/outclassed but still manages to hang tough and ship some damage of his own. Clearly defined my criteria in the original post, with examples, including Dempsey-Tunney II and another in the same realm, being Katsidis/Marquez. Regardless of what the thread title is, the first post defines what I'm looking for. And by the way, Cotto/Marg doesn't count. It's plain to be seen that Cotto quit that fight.
I couldnt really disagree with this more tbh Jones won that fight through will power, he dug deep despite being completely shattered and won enough of the last few rounds to win it whereas Tarver had energy left but it seemed he didnt want to throw more punches which was all he had to do to seal the fight because he didnt want to get hit back I think if hed shown more bravery and determination he wouldve won on the scorecards and quite possibly stopped him Maybe admirable in that he presented a stylistic challenge to jones when nobody else really had and did enough to make it a close fight but definitely nowhere near heroic Klitschko Vs Lewis is an obvious one for the thread, Barrera vs Morales 1 as well especially considering he didnt deserve to lose
Chavez vs. Taylor LaMotta vs. Robinson (The Massacre) Robinson vs. Basilio Chacon vs. Lopez/Boza Edwards I really like Louis v. Conn
Jeffreys Vs Johnson. Epic attempt, had it worked Jeffreys would have been a greater legend than he already is. He did as well as could be expected. Brave...
