    Discuss.

    It's gotta be Lewis.

It doesn't get more humble than having a nickname of

    The Quiet Man

    Lewis was quieter.

The man plays chess on a somewhat competitive level.

    Probably the most humble man.

    I must agree
He took everything in stride and was a great American at the same time
    while still being discriminated
    He stood tall

I don't really buy the humble act with all 3 of them. All of them have shown to be either arrogant or egomaniacs, or both. I don't necessarily have a problem with it, wow a world class athlete having a big ego (what a shock!).

Foreman's weird and all over the place though. He'll say really humble and self-depreciating things, then later on came across as condescending, then he's back to being nice again.

You would have to interact with any of them on a daily basis for awhile to really get to know their true personalities. Often people who seem nice on camera are total aholes when you meet them in person and people who seem distant and awkward on camera can be real cool people one on one. My vote goes to Holyfield as he always seemed pleasant and charming in every interview I ever saw but who knows.

Humble is not a characteristic I would use to describe Lewis. He was actually quite arrogant and over confident which led to his 2 losses. People shouldn't confuse being polite, courteous and not trash talking with being humble because Lewis was not humble he had tremendous self belief in his own abilities.

Marciano or Louis. Ali didn't have an ounce of humility in him.

No one of those three was really humble. Maybe Holyfield was the least ****y. Don't mistake the steak grills Foreman for the young Foreman. Foreman was considered a brute and a dickhead until he got knocked out badly and became religious.

And Lewis... lol. Have you ever seen ANY Lewis interview? That man is the definition of passive-aggressive ****y ******.

Lewis was probably the least humble of them all.

Riddick Bowe was the most humble.

Cut above the rest in terms of modesty:
    -Joe Louis
    -Wladimir Klitschko
    -Rocky Marciano

    Extreme opposite of thread question:
    -Muhammad Ali
    -Jack Johnson
    -Mike Tyson
    -Jack Dempsey
    -Lennox Lewis

^ Oddly enough, all those guys are consensus top 15 HW's.

Can anyone speak on the following fighters and their "humbleness" or lack of? I get the feeling these guys would be sold short here... I want to say I've read things that point to each of them being far more humble than the guys I listed in the above "opposite" grouping, even if they were not quite as humble as some of the most ever...
    -Ezzard Charles?
    -Primo Carnera?
    -Floyd Patterson?
    -Tommy Burns?

Tyson was extremely humble in both defeat and loss. First thing he did was always help the guy up and check was he ok before raising his hand.

Now go watch Wlad when he knocked out Chambers. Eddie was out cold twitching and Wlad is walking around the ring with his hands in the air not giving a single f uck.

Tysons demeanour was all an act. He had a big heart and was far more humble and gracious than the likes of Wlad.
