Yeah, I knew one of his earlier fights had ended in tragedy but that was about it. I was then hugely impressed although at the time I thought Clev fought the most idiotic of fights. I think it's clear now that it'd be difficult for Clev to be much more competitive with Krusher no matter what he did.
Remember when I watched Ronald "Winky" Wright beating up Ensley Bingham and thinking this guy is top drawer!! He was an achilles heel for the British Light Middles around the mid 90's!! He finally got teh recocnition he deserved a few years later though!!
Naseem Hamed, it was early in his career he fought on a Wayne McCullogh undercard here in Dublin. He won the british title i think, and knocked the guy out with a body punch. Ill always remember the noise of the guy when the punch connected. You could actually feel the pain of it. Then in the amateurs i saw Michael Carruth in his only amateur fight after winning gold in Barcelona 92, he really was an amazing amateur. Pity he didn turn pro until it was far too late.
I dont think Winky ever got the full recognition he deserved. One of the best jabbers ive ever seen. Brilliant technician!!
