For me it is Pacquiao because no one has really come close to the things he's done while I don't believe the same can be said for the others. Even Louis' 12 year reign is mitigated by the fact that he didn't defend the title for four years because of World War 2. Tyson didn't beat Floyd Paterson's age by much and Hopkins wasn't too much older than a couple of guys.

 

Yeah and to be clear all those other accomplishments you listed were incredible. Not an easy choice. But like Hopkins Manny had some pretty damn lengthy longevity himself and fought a ton of hall of fame fighters. Titles in 8 divisions including lineage in like 4 or 5 of them is unbelievable. I can’t see anyone doing that ever again

Yeah it’s a great achievement for sure but you gotta take into account that everyone back then that was champ was undisputed an lineal champ. You only had to beat one guy to do it. Since then with multiple belts sure you can say it’s a lot easier to win a world title with more opportunities an choice of world titles to aim for but you can also say it’s a lot harder to become undisputed or lineal champ as well cos it’s so hard to make the unification fights to find a undisputed champ an this was the case even when it’s was only the wbc an wba around. Now you also gotta win the ibf an wbo belts as well.

A example is Inoue becoming undisputed bantamweight champ recently. Now with so many great or outstanding bantamweights around in recent decades you would have thought there would have been quite a few undisputed bantam champs in that time but Inoue is the first undisputed bantam champ for over 50 years which shows how rare an hard it is to become undisputed or lineal since Armstrong’s time whe tee was only one champ

 

You still only need to beat 1 fighter, specifically the lineal champion, to become lineal champion, today.
