    For me:

    1. Ali-Foreman
    2. Douglas-Tyson
    3. Foreman-Frazier 1
    4. Schmeling-Louis 1
    5. Louis-Max Baer
    6. Tyson-Pinklon Thomas
    7. McCall-Lewis 1
    8. Foreman-Moorer
    9. Zhang-Joyce 1
    10. To be decided

I am deciding on the last place right now. Lots of options. I guess we could use Bowe-Holyfield 3 although it is debatable if Holyfield was his usual self. Fury-Wilder 2 is a decent candidate, as is Ali-Bonavena.

If you mean impressive purely on the basis of the opposition, rather than the nature of the stoppage, Ali vs Liston must have a strong case for top 10.

If it's first stoppage suffered specifically in a fight at HW, than JJW's stoppage of Charles is also a good shout.

Again, primarily based on the quality of the opposition stopped, Purity vs Wlad is worth consideration, though Wlad isn't known for his durability and more effectively mitigated that weakness later in his career.

How about Jim Flynn's 1st round stoppage of Dempsey just 2-years before Dempsey massacred Willard?

    Good post.

It doesn't matter to me if its a title fight or not. But yes, the quality of opposition matters.

Flynn over Dempsey is impressive but there is the controversy that Dempsey took a dive. I am hesitant to include that for that reason.

    Thank you.

If quality of opposition is key, start at the top of your ATG list and go down, looking at the first stoppage loss each fighter suffered.

Ali, Holmes and Jeffries 1st stoppage defeats were way past their respective primes, whilst Johnson and Willis were very green when they suffered theirs.

Applying this approach, Purity over Wlad and Ali over Liston are the obvious two missing from your list, but circumstances of the first and durability of the stopped fighter in the second, may detract from your view of how "impressive" they were.

JJW's stoppage over Charles was impressive both aesthetically and given the quality of the champion KO'd, so depends whether you base it on first career stoppage or first stoppage at HW, as Marshall stopped an underdeveloped 165lbs Charles when he was a 21 year old kid, in what was technically a LHW contest.

Walcott-Charles is a great shout out. I am willing to overlook Charles's early career stoppage since it was at a lower weight. Great shout.

Wlad is just too fragile IMO. Ali over Liston is probably going to get my #10 spot.

    Fantastic picks. I forgot those.

Ibeabuchi threw an amazing left uppercut that ended the fight essentially. Great shot.

Haye landed a pulverizing left hook on Chisora. Love that punch.

I have to concur with many of your choices especially Joe Louis-Max Baer.

Baer was extremely tough, only 3 months before was Undisputed World champion and had taken the blows of Schemling (who he pummeled) with ease.

Max wouldn´t get stopped again 4 years (+26 fights) later by a young Lou Nova.

Can also add Tony Galento-Lou Nova.

Nova coming off his 1st impressive stoppage win over Max Baer and a points win over teak tough Tommy Farr and on verge of a Louis title shot gets brutalized by Galento coming off a 4 round battering from Joe Louis.
