He was and still is my hero, but to my shame I thought he'd lose.
I remember being on a bus going to work early the next morning and I asked a fella who I didn't know in the next seat if he knew who won the fight, when he said Ali, I was overjoyed, especially when he then said he knocked him out!

Not much work got done in my office that next day !! Everyone was talking about it. Some old guy (about the same age as I am now...lol) said "Well, maybe I was wrong. Ali may well be as great as Louis and Dempsey"

Lol I can believe it pal. I've had that moment a few times in my life, where u get so wrapped up I n a big fight and the under dog wins! On a smaller scale I remember the razor ruddock v Lewis fight. Halloween I believe it was. Lewis the underdog' against ruddock who'd gone to battle with tyson twice. Watched it on sky. Man, I was so nervous for Lewis. I just couldn't see lennox winning at all. I'd bought in to the heavy weight brits always fail myth. Any way u no what happened next. I shouted that loud when ruddock went down the neighbour came round to see what was going on lol. So can just see u dancing round stevie :aplastao:

It certainly was. Lewis despite showing great potential was still from the island of heavy failures so when they pitted him against razor my first thought was, oh ****!. Of course we couldn't have known at the time that he would end up one of the greatest heavy s, well that's how I see him.

No competition, Ali hands down. That was the most impressive regaining of a championship ever, and will probably remain so throughout hw history.
