In retrospect, Eddie Gregory is, IMO, one of the most talented fighters to ever step into the ring. But, being from Indy, I loved Marvin J. (saw all his early fights live) and was rooting for him to hand Eddie his head that night in Tennessee...But...if you look up 'boxing surgical performances' in the dictionary I'm sure you'de find Gregory-Johnson at the top. My 'homeboy' was slowly dismantled from start to finish. Eddie could have finished him earlier if he wasn't trying to 'stay slick and pretty'. After a couple of rounds after Eddie broke a couple of Marvin's ribs with that left hook to the body I said to my late boxing bud: "Jeez Mike, this is like a cat playing with a mouse."
Learn what a finisher is! These are just examples of a bigger fighter, smothering a smaller a lesser fighter.
I hear you on Tunney v. Dempsey, but I also have trouble with including a fight where the winning fight would arguably have been knocked out but for a different referee or an egregious mental error by the loser.
Whitaker vs Paz Harold Johnson vs Doug Jones John Conteh vs yaqui Lopez Toney vs Barkeley Duran vs Dejesus 3 Canto vs Avelar Larry holmes vs tex cobb
Rigondeaux was almost perfect vs Donaire. Kinda like douglas against tyson. Qawi took Saad muhammad apart.
