Hey, the recent thread about the greatest performance ever and the greatest signature performance ever got me thinking about a similar idea for a thread. What are the moments that made you stand up and cheer as a fan? What moments best captured the essence of what makes this sport so great?

    Here's my rough list:

1.) Bobby Chacon decking Bazooka Limon in the dying seconds of the fourth fight. So special because of the hell Bobby had gone through.
2.) Corrales vs. Castillo Round 10
    3.) Ward vs. Gatti 1, Round 9
4.) Sugar Ray Leonard ('You're blowing it kid!'-Angelo Dundee)
5.) Tyson Fury getting off the deck and winning the rest of round 12
    6.) Bowe vs. Holyfield 1 Round 10
7.) Leavander Johnson (rip) finally winning a title in his 4th attempt
8.) Arguello's post fight pep talk to Ray Mancini
9.) Sugar Ray Robinson crushing Bobo Olson and then bursting into tears of joy, a champion again
10.) Hagler asking Larry Merchant if he finally proved he was a great fighter after putting Hearns away

Foreman Ali (we all know why)

    Frazier Ali.

Frazier was smaller, had practically no lateral movement and mostly one-speed, came right in, etc. Because of these projected deficiencies I thought back in the day that Ali would smack the crap out of him and stop him in the late rounds. Well, Ali did that in the early rounds, but Joe kept smokin'.

Holmes Witherspoon (Larry was OUT in the ninth round and just watch what he does in that corner...fighting back as hard as he can. He got seriously hurt later in the round too, but he kept firing and even landed a couple of no-joke rights.

Leonard Hearns I (we all know why. Hearns was beating him imo, and the way Ray came up on him for the finish was amazing imo. Total championship heart)

I'm always inspired when I see fighters making millions off of a fight yet fighting back as hard as they can when seriously hurt and/or knocked down. I mean, this is big money people...set for life, and they still gave it their all and beyond...

Looking back at the Tyson’s attempted murder of Berbick,at the end of the first round with Berbick staggering back to his corner like a drunk the tv cameras eagerly follows him there and everyone watching awaits for some sage advice from wise old atg trainer Angelo Dundee to somehow rescue Berbick from his doomed situation. The first thing we see and hear is Dundee looking all panicked screaming, ‘the sponge, the sponge, whos got the f****** sponge?’ Hearing this the cameras quickly zoom away like there was no tomorrow as the Berbick corner carry on looking for the sponge. Yeah like the magic sponge would have magically boosted Berbick’s health and energy bars. Lol.

Not only funny as hell but inspiring as well as it’s showed even the best trainers with the best reps can appear just as helpless as the armchair viewers when their fighter is facing overwhelming odds like Berbick was against Tyson.

10-1 underdog and on relief with a houseful of kids during the depression, Jimmy Braddock, grinding out a 15 round decision over monster puncher Max Baer. Now that's inspirational.

Nothing for me ever matched being in The Garden and watching ascend olympus again while shutting Davey Moores big mouth.

I give full credit to Trevor, that man's heart was evident. He was doing everything in his power to get up. The sight was nearly as impressive as Mike's victory imo. Had it been prime Holmes Tyson would have been in trouble after that.

yea, chacon, limon, didn't chacon's wife just die like a day before? Although any chacon or limon fight would fit in this thread really

It was actually about 9 months earlier that she died, but he had a scheduled bout the next night I believe against a fighter named Salvador Ugalde, which he went through with. I recall seeing the end of the fight where he just collapsed into his brother-in-law's arms. Truly heart-breaking.

Walcott single handedly ending Ezzard Charles prime. Also winning the title in the process

Foreman winning the title in his mid 40s

Marquez getting even after getting the short stick against Pacquiao 3 times.

That time James Lang finally got his heavyweight title shot against the champ who made him wait while fighting a bunch of hand-picked opponents and made good with a terrifying knockout.

    Southside Slugger FTW.

Surely Douglas' performance against Tyson should be included in a list like this.
