In no particular order Dempsey before Tunney, Liston before Ali, Tyson before Douglas, Duran before second Leonard fight, Hearns and Forman before comeback. I also believed Ali allways intimidated his opponents or at the very least he got under there skin.

Dempsey, Liston, Young Foreman, Tyson, Duran, Nigel Benn, McClennan, Hagler, Hearns, those are the biggest names to come off my head.

Also, you know people going in against Julian Jackson must have been scared shitless.

Mike Tyson obviously enjoys an honorary mention at the top of any list of this sort.

Then you have to consider the types of fighters who were not necessarily as hyped in the media.
from a perspective of the last 50 years

Roy Jones stands in my mind as a fighter who probably had a hard time finding opponents who were willing to step in the ring with 'super man' (before ruiz)

Obviously Ali would have figured as a pretty big obstruction in the manufacturing process of fighters (in his prime)

then there are the fighters like Pernell Whitaker who were guarunteed to make you look like an ameteur whether or not you won, or got away with a draw,

It's hard to make a list like this

the great fighters make their living off the fact that they are scary to get in the ring with because they are so good,

if a champion does not scare the contenders for his throne, then he is probabably not that great anyways.

    1. Tyson- all in the eyes, especially during his second comeback, you didnt know wether he was going to you with his fists or something else.
    2. Dempsey- Old school, he took pleasure in decapitating his oppenents
    3. Julian Jackson- one punch murderer, when he put his glove out and pointed at you in his corner, oppenents had to **** there pants.

Roberto Duran in the Montreal Brawl just when he put his mouthpiece looked like a killer.

Jack Dempsey, George Foreman, Marvin Hagler. Vitali Klitschko and Miguel Cotoo are intimidating too.
