Sonny Liston scared a lot of dudes as did Earnie Shavers. I can't forget Khaosai
Galaxy, he destroyed nearly everyone he fought. 47-1 41 ko's. Small and mean, a real bad muther.

Floyd Patterson struck fear into his opponents.
They were afraid he would fall on them.

Prince hamed perhaps? Lyle. Hearns. Pacman. Manny has that nice guy vibe but also has that face that is sheer primal rage.

Tommy Hearns, look at him at the start of the Hagler fight.

    You would be.

In fact you would literaly **** your pants if any world class boxer confronted you.

Always good to bear this in mind before you start trash talking a boxer.

    good call.

And at that opening bell, you could throw away any inkling or idea of just feeling a guy out, etc. You were going to have to punch the guy off.

Have you ever seen a guy that went further without a jab? This guy didn't even bother to throw them. but both hands were loaded and he'd do oddball things like throw a deadly left uppercut lead from way on the outside. but it'd be quick and somehow, it'd land.

The other thing he did was to feint. he'd sit in ring center and feint and get that other guy to jab or do something and then those fast hands would fire off a bomb. Most hitters love leading. Mugabi didn't. very tough guy to prepare for and nobody did things that way.

    Yep.

Vitali may be the best and he's seldom given any credit for it. But the guy is huge. In top shape. Focused. Well prepared. Ready. And he always does that opponent stare down thing of his for about 5 minutes before the opening bell. PHD, so you know he's smart and well prepared and has that ko record.

I love that Hide fight and Herbie had resorted to all those pre-fight things. And had the fight in his backyard. All that stuff he was doing before the opening bell and he just got the Vitali Klitschko I'm focusing only on my opponent look. And the opponent was Herbie.

I guess that your idea of what looks intimidating must differ from most peoples.

Sonny Liston went to prison for violent robberies and also beat up a cop and beatup prisoners where he learned to box....and here a guy types on his computer that "Sonny Liston wasn't intimidiating".

Liston was 212 pounds, in shape and very skilled, and very mean. I has seen no picture of him making a mean or angry face. He wasn't his game. He just stared right through while he battered you senseless.

Hearns lost that fight, Hagler won by 3 round KO despite Hearns nearly knocking him out in 1 round and doctor been called in 3 round to have a look at Hagler's cut.

The question was the intimidation. Hearns looked like hell before that fight. The outcome wasn't the question.
