So, I'm correct. YOU did pick Kessler to beat Ward. Not I. I can search and dig my prediction (post) if you desire confirmation and specification on how the fight would unfold. I think it is possible for two reasons. One, Green is a better athlete than 99% of the fighters Kessler has met in his career. Don't you have any competitive experience? If you are always better than your opposition then you never get tested and look good as a comparative. When you face guys who have better hand speed or foot speed or length or size, etc., etc., you have to find other ways to win and other attributes to call upon. Mikkel has been demonstrating that he doesn't really have any easy path to victory now that he is facing better competition. He gets hit too easily, his hand and foot speed isn't notable, he isn't agile, isn't quick, and his power is only in-line with every one else. The second reason is related to the first. Mikkel has taken considerable punishment in his last two fights. He got dominated by Ward and as I said "looked like a crash test dummy" after the Froch fight. By comparison, Allan Green is hungry, in his prime physically, hasn't had too many wars (which is why a prefaced my first post with what happens in the upcoming Ward fight), and is a straighter and more varied puncher than both Froch and Kessler. A loss to Ward will mean he will have to stop Kessler to advance (and the other fights will have to work out accordingly). I believe he may well have the offensive variation that can catch a twice battered and ring worn Kessler when it matters - I don't believe Kessler can accomplish the reverse. One reason some fighters go or went undefeated or never get stopped is because they do not face prime and talented opposition. They and their promoters handpick their opponents for timing and opportunity. Mikkel is no longer walking that road. One's chin always remains in tact when you never face decent athletes who can touch you. But, when you start to get hit with punches you didn't see or couldn't avoid it adds up and hastens an eventual if not inevitable KO. Mikkel isn't looking so pristine in my eyes. He may well be ripe for the taking. As I said .. I picked Ward. There was no surprise for some of us. http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=168604&page=2
Unless Green beats Ward and Kessler. AA 5/6 Green 4/5/6 Ward 4 Kessler 2 Froch 2 Dirrell 2 Green (3) KO Ward Froch (4-5) beats AA Dirrell (4-5) beats Ward Kessler (4-5) beats Green Not very likely and even then Green and AA are level. Kessler 4/5 Froch 4/5 Dirrell 4/5 Green 3 AA 3 Ward 2
Also think Dirrell will lose to Ward. Am I right in thinking that if this is the case Dirrell's future depends on Froch-Abraham? I.e if Abraham win both go through as Froch and Dirrell will be tied but Froch beat him, however if Froch wins he and Dirrell go through, Abraham is out?
No - AA would have 3 points to Dirrell's 2 points. Dirrell is screwed if he loses to Ward because Froch beat him and because AA has the extra knock out point.
I actually cant remeber making any prediction i just presumed i had because you said it lol. Kessler maybe a bit one dimensional but he is strong and very tough. If green is to stop him them imo the only way is to open up them presistant cuts he has had in the last few fights and get the fight stopped.
There is that too, huh. Who knows? One thing still remains for all athletes - if you have an opponent you perceive as a real and legitimate threat you usually put the work in and come especially prepared. I anticipate he will watch tape and see Green fight (and punch) and will take him quite seriously (definitely if he performs and is able to extend AW in a competitive bout). Still, I don't think desire will be enough like it was against Froch. But of course, we will see. Cheers.
Calzaghe, Ward, Andrade, Beyer and Mundine would all beat Green. Even an unskilled Puncher like Miranda beat Green on points Kessler has on of the best chin's at 168 was never down and Green hasn't koed anyone decent yet.
LOL - Andrade is a bum. Beyer was a dwarf. He's undersized and fought bums for his entire career. Mundine was KO'd by ATG Bum Sven Ottke. I've got Ward to win the upcoming fight - learn to read. Joe wouldn't have fought Green - he's not near his 40s yet. Green was having colon probs in 2007 which eventually resulted in surgery late that year. It was already bothering him at the time of the Miranda fight. That fight was at a catch weight of 162. Green is 6'2". "Unskilled puncher" Miranda was undefeated when he defeated the ailing Green (Miranda hadn't fought Pavlik yet - his first legitimate loss). He's the guy that left AA drinking out of a straw for several months just six months before fighting Green. Mentioning Andrade, Beyer, and feather fisted Mundine just demonstrates you're a boxing neophyte (i.e., "noobaphyte") and a non-athlete. You really think Green would be troubled by these bums? Get your ass in the gym, kid. You need an athletic education.
I think Ward was very flattered by the Kessler fight, plus he certainly used the home turf to his advantage. I think Dirrell will cause him real problems cause his speend, angles, movement and power won't bother Dirrell. I can see Dirrells speed putting Ward on his ass. Not gonna be an easy fight but it's porbably Dirrells easiest one of the tourney so far .. I can't see Froch standing up to Abraham - his defence is just ridiculously open and AA carries insane power. Froch may well have a good chin but it's not granite like so many people say. He can't take more than a few of those without folding. Remember: every punch Abraham lands takes that much out of you that it's easier for him to land the next one. He catches Froch once, he'll start landing more and more. Froch gets carried away in the moment sometimes too, not a good idea against Abraham. Stylistically I can't see much that Froch can do to really bother Abraham, either.
Green and Froch. I suppose based on the scoring system, Direll has a veyr good chance too. Personally though, I think the best 4 in order are: Ward Abraham Direll Kessler Frich Green
