And the way he fell positioned him perfectly right under the crown in Don King's logo. This would also be my number one choice

This was the first one that popped into my head. I remember watching it and as the bomber hit the canvas I just thought that's him with blancmange for brains.

    it really was....

In Puerto Rico in the mid 80s, there was a television variety show on Sundays named A Millon...people came to win prices, I think the biggest cash price you could win was $10,240 dollars if you answered 21 questions right over the course of those 21 weeks (in fact, there was a controversy the first time someone won because you could choose which category to answer questions from the entire contest-sports, math-science, history and etc- and the first contestant to win was a math professor who chose math but on his final week, they gave him a science question instead-he failed, was deemed a loser, there was a public outcry and the next week, the producers brought him back, apologized on the air and gave him a $10,240 dollar check)....the show;'s premise was they offered $1,000,000 dollars in presents every show, so hence the name "A Millon"

What does this all have to do with the rematch between Joe Louis and Max Schmeling? Well nothing but also everything. From 1984 to 1986, they had a feature that made me watch the show religiously, named "knockout". Contestants had to view a tape of a fight and then name the winner and the round in which the fight ended in order to win 500 or a thousand dollars, Im not sure the cash price amount but anyways something like that. They showed videos of fights from the 1930s to the mid 80s, some of them videos form fights shown on theaters and some from HBO, from themselves at Wapa-TV which was telecasting all big fights free in Puerto Rico...i saw Jack Dempsey vs Luis Firpo and Rocky Kansas vs Sammy Mandell for the first time on that show! And I recorded them on my boxing fights video.

When they showed the second Louis-Schmeling fight I was shocked both by Louis "killer instinct" and by the brutality in which he disposed of this great, great champion from Germany. It was so brutal and efficient and lasted only what, 2 minutes? That right hand which he connected on a bending Schmeling to his chin and sent him down particularly was one punch I'll never forget! Schmeling shook his head as if saying no but in reality, he had no choice where his head was moving at that moment!

You are right, it was a beautiful finish!!

To give a recent example, Dubois stopping Miller.

That one just seemed to time perfectly.
