To be fair that is a good point. In fact mate that was one of the better posts that i have seen on this forum:thumbsup
the comments on here are top notch....playing devils advocate to some extent. As arule of thumb we should support British boxing and fighters.....but what many people have cited as grievances relate more to the business than the sport.....totally agree that you can take agin individuals that are over hyped/protected......feel that Khan has definitely suffered from that and sadly what would otherwise have been regarded as an outstanding sporting career may be tarnished by over expectation. But let's face it this fight was a calculated risk to propel Clev onto the American scene and the big money he wanted.
hed just never really been tested against someone with that power and skill.nobody was sure if kovalev was world class, after tonight its almost certain he is,cleverly had all those pointless defences against terrible opponents it didnt prepare him for HIS step up to world level.hes underated by many on here, class boxer, good chin but ****** made him fight bum after bum and that showed tonight when he was annihalted unfortunatly
maybe they did not prepare cleverley for this fight - i thought he just looked far too skinny - the russian just looked so much stronger physique wise..
Perhaps I was the only one who thought so, but Cleverly always looked European level. I don't think he's ever shown anything in the ring to suggest he can exceed that.
Sonny Liston v Floyd Patterson most one sided. In reference to Clev, I personally thought his competition was on a par with Kobalevs but Kovalev was obviously the biggest name he had fought due to his reputation. This for me was going to show who was the real deal , Kovalev defo is for real.
Why not? are we supposed to have some loyalty to cleverly because he is we'sh? because he lives fairly close too us? **** that I'm happy to see him get stopped and excited to see more of kovalev.
True boxing fans don't give a **** about nationality, we just want to see the best fight the best! Cleverly was making his fifth defence of a title he was handed and only now facing a top ten light heavyweight!
Totally agree, cleverly was never going to improve with vince, just wasn't sure wether kov was all they claimed, wasnt too shocked with the result especially after the opening round
glue glove don't quite get your point here?Dont think top fights are arranged by nationality generally......I am looking forward to seeing Mayweather against Alvarez immensely....but if you are British why wouldn't you root for Hatton when he fought Mayweather, for example
That fight reminded me of when Foreman destroyed Frazier and became world champion......Frazier bounced back and so will Clev.
