After watching several Deontay Wilder past fights it is ridiculous how protected he has been in his opponents. Damon McCreary for his 25th fight for example was embarrassing. Im all for learning the trade and being carefully matched early in your pro career ie/ first 10-15 fights but then you really need stepping up in quality.

Here is a clip of the McCreary fight

Who has been the most recent or current over protected british fighter in your opinion?

Khan in his earlier days I'd say.

We'll put him in with anyone as long as they can't punch.

It was that approach that ultimately led to him being flattened by Prescott I think.

The most protected world champion is Nathan Cleverly or Saul Alvarez.

The most protected prospect is either Deontay Wilder definitely.

Price was pretty "well managed" and it cost him in the end as he was woefully under prepared for the step up against Thompson.

    I agree with this actually.

Thompson was a fighter that Price ought to have been able to beat at that stage of his career, but the step up in class was still enormous.

    True.

His competition so far was been shockingly bad.

Everyone seems to take this view as fact but it doesn't really hold up when examined properly. He was no more or less protected than any other prospect....Compare his first ten-fifteen fights to John Murray for instance and see what you think

    Yep.

He hasn't even won the LW title, for god sake. Add to that the fact that he's fighting nobodies, too. Imagine if he HAD to face JMM? Holy ****!

Clev is up there as well. Fighting bin-men and the sort.

At least he fought Katsidis and Mitchell and was scheduled to fight Vazquez, what the hell has Clev done?

Is Adrien Broner being protected in anyone's opinion?

He is skipping the whole 140 lb weight division to fight Paulie.

Jumping the whole domestic scene to fight world level is hardly protected,Id say his career was more rushed than anything.

Amir Khan,he never won a Lonsdale or European title and went head first into the world scene to fight Kotelnik. There were some big fights domestically for Khan but Frank moved him on pretty quick even after a devastating ko defeat.
