I confess that when i first started watching SRR's fights i was underwhelmed, mainly because i was surprised with how much he got hit. But first of all, the objective of boxing is not to not get hit, but to hit your opponent more often than he hits you and he sure got that done. Secondly, you must take into account that there is barely footage of Robbie in his prime. And finally, numbers don't lie: 1 loss in his first 132 fights, and that loss coming against a guy he also beat 5 times. In those 132 fights he won the WW title, defended it 5 times, won the MW title and beat a host of great fighters and reigning, former or future champions like Gavilan, Lamotta, Zivic and Armstrong to name a few. Hate on that, my man.

That's it. 85-0 as an amateur, hell he won 91 in a row at one point.

It's not only his record, but just watch the guy. He had every tool in the book.

    Best ever.

Robinson is a fighter like Floyd's worst nightmare, other than Hearns. Someone with that offensive firepower would overwhelm his defensive style. Floyd would land no doubt, but get outlanded, and hurt, if he got too bold.

First of all, I don't know what the hell you are talking about. I watch his tapes and I'm amazed by his skill, combination punching, agressiveness, LEFT HOOK, speed and on and on. But understand one thing. The guy won his first 40 professional fights.....in his first 3 YEARS as a pro. His first loss came to LaMotta, and he avenged it later that month!!!!! :rofl :rofl :rofl He then didn't lose for another 8 years and and won 88 straight fights in that time, then he avenged his second loss by TKO 2 months later

You cannot compare him to SRL or Floyd Mayweather......Sorry man. You lose. There is a reason why every single fighter (Except Joy Boy) regards him as #1. There is a reason why Ali claimed he was the best "heavyweight" ever and always gave Robinson his props. :deal

    They would've done very well.

Why? Do you think in 30 years boxers will be better than now? How? What new techniques can we learn? Boxing technique has been the same since Robinson's time. From about the 40's on has been the modern era as far as technique. Watch footage of him. He's not as slick defensively as Pea or Floyd, he was known as an offensive machine, which is what he was. And you couldn't beat him at it.

I think this is a great post! It's hard not to be overrated when you are regarded as the best ever by most, which SRR is. Anyone who thinks he's not #1 thinks he's overrated. My GOAT is Ali, next is SRR. So in my book he's slightly overrated by most, but not much.

Absolutley true. There are at least three welters against whom PBF would have NO CHANCE: SRR, SRL, and Hearns.
