People use it as his best performance, for me that's over rating it.

Ali - Liston II. Not by us here, but by the general public. The Neil Leifer photo of Ali standing over Liston has become an iconic image confirming Ali's greatness. No, casuals, the bout was undoubtably tainted and many believe the whole reason Liston was on the floor is because he took a dive.

Agree on this. Willard looks awful on film. The only real thing that win does for me is to confirm how hard Dempsey hit. Very hard. But out-skilling Willard was no great feat.

Good call Mr. G. I've gone back and fourth with this
win since the night of this fight.

Don't tell this to Mayweather Jr's fan base. According to some of them every opponent
he faced was better than most fighters in history, and was at their absolute peak when
    he faced them.

Roidyfield gets too much praise for winning against a post prison faded version of Tyson.

    Foreman simply gassed out

It was just a lucky punch

Willard was a skilless oaf. Plus there was no neutral corner rule, so Dempsey could just pound him while he was trying to get up. Hardly fair.

Leonard simply did some shoe shinning and his punches rarely had an effect on Hagler

It was just one lucky night for LaMotta and the Suga Man destroyed him on 5 other occasions

Roy was washed up by then

    Liston took a dive

Y'know the fifth fight was a disputed decision, right? Hardly Robinson 'destroying' him. Same again in the third fight, it was a close decision, but a clear one, where Robinson fought at length. And in this fight Robinson was dropped and very badly hurt in the 7th. Definitely not a destructive performance.

Foreman gassed because Ali presented him with a mirage,an open target on the ropes ,where he had dreamed of getting Ali.Nothing lucky about it.
Foreman had thrown away his ram rod jab and utilised a soft pitty pat one, that punch was planned.
Willard would have had the same opportunities if he had been able to deck Jack.
Punches don't have to be hard to score points the Hagler v Leonard fight could have gone either way.Hagler gave away rounds fighting orthodox and his corner were far too laid back, between rounds they acted as though the result was in the bag!
All the Robinson series were close many felt Jake was entitled to a win in another and that Robinson got it because he was going in the Army after the fight Jake floored Ray a couple of times .A 6 fight series indicates close competitive fights.
    Jones was washed up.
I think Liston elected to stay down.
