Any version of Calzaghe beats any version of Johnson. If Johnson had waited instead of fighting Jones he would have had a spanking.

For me, Joe Calzaghe underachieved in his career.

I said Calzaghe is overrated, which is true imo. But i'll agree with the bit in bold too. He stayed in his comfort zone for far too long which is ultimately what hurts him.

If he WAS that good, Mr Allegedly should of let him off the leash a lot sooner and he should of gone to the States and tested himself earlier, rather than fighting the likes of Tocker Pudwill.

The Kessler win was quality no doubt but is Mikkel in the same league as Jones and Hopkins in their primes? No.

    Max is not over-rated

How, he cliniced Joe louis in there first fight, an the second fight he was so stressed out cause of the war, the fact his prometer an long time friend that was jewish had to be let go, the night before the fight he had thousand of people protesting outside of his hotel, leaving him with very little sleep, he did not have the heart to be in there fighting for some dump ass like hitler. His upset of Joe was incredible, he was a underdog.

I think holyfield is very over-rated, he was great, but the love he gets is incredilble, the ruiz fights says it all....

Calzaghe did pull out of fighting Johnson twice with hand injuries I think, however the next time the fight was rescheduled Johnson lost to Sheika so Calzaghe fought Sheika.

Then years later when the fight was again rescheduled Johnson lost to Clinton Woods (Calzaghe was ringside)

There is no way Johnson would beat Calzaghe, his come forward style would have played right into his hands.

Tocker Pudwill was a late stand in for Thomas Tate who was a good fighter.

Hopkins ducked Calzaghe in 2002 that much is clear so you cant blame JC for that fight not happening.

Ok i was using Pudwill as an harsh example but my post still stands up.

Yep Thomas Tate was a good fighter but he was carefully selected by fish-eyes at that time in 2002. If the fight with Tate had been made 3-5 years earlier then fair enough, but Tate was done in 2002.

He was also considered 'done' a few times in the 90's and i remember it being said he had no hunger after some close decision losses and after his KO to Jones in '94, a full 8 years before the fight with Joe.

Bottom line is Calzaghe wasn't willing to travel (or Allegedly wouldn't let him), the same can be said about Hopkins being unwilling to fight Joe in the UK but at the end of the day it was Joe who needed to prove himself at that time, not Hopkins.

    James toney is overrated.

Personally i think Jones Jnr is overrated big time. Quality athletic fighter, resume so-so, steriod cheat. Yet still gets considerd as one of the best of all time, i dont think so.

I rate Hopkins over Jones all time.
