How great Kovalev really? He beat Alvarez in his last fight, but should he have lost to him to begin with? Hopkins did handpick guys. I am not saying they were pushovers, but they were guys he felt he could handle. Same as Floyd.

That's what people don't seem to be getting...you have to be rated highly to be overrated. It is NOT a measure of actual quality. A good fighter can be overrated, and a mediocre one can be underrated.

By the definition of overrated- someone who is, right now, rated higher than their achievements should dictate, Spence is the only real choice for me. He's the only one on the list who got a P4P ranking after his first world title win and he still only has one top 5 win in the division. He's got the thinnest resume and is the least accomplished of anyone thought of highly enough to be on the P4P list, and it's really not even close.

Ring rates him higher than Inoue right now, and Spence got on the list just three weeks after Monster. Monster was 10-0 in title fights and knocked out the #1 fighter two divisions apart before he got ranked. Spence was 1-0 in title fights with one win over one top welter. ESPN ranks Spence over Inoue now and has him at 4; Inoue has three times the title wins (12-0 in title fights vs 4-0 for Spence), a superior resume, and is in his third weight class. That's overrated.

If you want a more apples to apples comparison (single weight fighter who got ranked before he got the biggest fights at the weight), that'd be Golovkin. Golovkin was 13-0 in title fights with wins over numerous ranked contenders before he got ranked P4P. How about another single weight fighter? Anthony Joshua isn't even ranked in Ring despite a superior resume & better record in title fights (7-0).

Spence could grow in to that ranking if he gets the fights (and I would favor him against any WW not named Bud), but it was premature to give him a ranking that high that soon.

I can tell you the Aussie media and casuals lapped up Wilder hence my vote - not that is a significant market but here he was more overrated than Golovkin who I have second.

Its seems like 90% of the posts in this forums are to ***** Wilder. And yet he gets the lion's share. People really can't follow there own logic.
