I`ll probably get **** for this but Hagler/Hearns. Great first round. But overated if you put it in the very elite fights of alltime. It didnt last long enough. Not enough shifts in momentum. It was a great short fight, explosive but not on par with top fights.
Arguello-Pryor I- I found this fight to be pretty one-sided, the legendary nights really exaggerated the shift in momentum in the fight. Foreman- Lyle- Apart from the multiple knockdowns i found this fight overrated, just seemed too slow in pace for me
I really enjoyed Mayweather vs Hatton. Ali vs Foreman is top of my list, people make it out like a comeback when in reality Ali was controlling a very boring fight.
Castillo-Corales I Having seen the 10th round multiple times before watching the full fight, it was never going to live up to my expectations
Only 50% of the fight was great. The 2nd half. The first 5 rounds it was Gatti poking out the jab and boxing as Ward could hardly get off with punches. While it is a great fight overall, it's nowhere near the likes of Ali-Frazier III, Bowe-Holyfield I, Morales-Barrera I, Pryor-Arguello I and Corrales-Castilio I.
Incredible statement!!!:nut Now that all depends on what angle it's looked at from! At the time this was thee most momentous battle of it's day juxtaposed with all the intangibles that led up to the fight in being that Hearns was looked upon as thee man that could slay the dragon. You had to be around at the time to appreciate it's significance. Hagler was the recognised P4P Global SuperBeast & no one gave a **** about the length o f the fight or who dominated 2 & 3 they just wanted their man to win. Sure if yer looking at this fight from an armchair with **** in hand & bottle in other then there's plenty of superior 12 round thrillers to help you pass the time. But i just don't get anyone saying this was the most overated fight???? Obviously they we're'nt around back in the day when oh so lucky boys such as myself watched it live via satalitte at 5.30 am at Portsmouth Guildhall along with 3,000 other crazed screaming drunk shoulder biting chimpanzees who never heard a word of commentary such was the bedlam. Hagler/Hearns was the absolute total shocker of a compleat package for us & my man WON:happy The Yank Commentary is total SHITE with that wankstick Bernstein, it's the Reg gutteridge Commentary that was superb, but watching it live had to be one of the best nights ever for me & 1000's of others also.
I was so one sided & predictable as it went round by round, it was an absolute yawn as far as i was concerned as i was there. Could have been the fact that i was pissed up, the atmosphere & build up was as you'd expect totally awesome. But in all reality this fight was'nt even on the radar as far as the yanks were concerned & even the majority of MGM staff did'nt know that a fight was on, they all thought we were with the Rodeo Convention
That had to have been quite the event being there for it, but yeah I thought it was more hyped. Because watching it I was thinking Holy was doing a lot of clinching, and landing a lot on the inside. Tyson was missing a ton and just getting smothered. There was a great moment when they fought after the bell, but that was really it.
