By "overrated" I'm NOT talking about fanboyism and ATG fantasies, but the general public's overcrediting of certain fighters who get either higher praise/ranking than their skills level/resume (losses, tough wins included) would warrant (let the reason be popularity, hype, emotional choice), or their flaws / style problems / careful management is being ignored.

Say Wlad is getting praise, but we know his losses and flaws too, and he's fighting the best, can't call him overrated. Say Cunningham, years since last statement win, suspect Ross fight, Hernandez L considered a clear W when he barely escaped a long count (ending was still BS) - he's considered the dominating CW World Champion which he's not in 2011. Say Canelo, getting hype but not considered a top LMW just yet and getting criticism, again, not overrated by the public.

Please vote for the name you think the general public overrates the most today, or name a fighter that is not on the list and is being overcredited!

By general public I mean general boxing public.

True that Rios is getting a lot of praise. He needs to fight a big name such as Soto to warrant the praise, even if IMO he'd beat him.

I'm a fan of Gamboa and Khan, and consider Pirog a very interesting character, but likewise, for different reasons per person, I don't think that they've proved (yet) that they belong where the general boxing public puts them.

Rios is so over hyped it's untrue, he's going to end up soundly busted up the first time he fights a top BOXER, not brawler, boxer.

Martinez is an interesting choice considering he's being criticized for the Barker performance and for "fighting smaller guys". :huh Still, his run of Cintron, Williams x 2, Pavlik, Dzinziruk and Barker is very strong, but clearly not P4P#1 strong, not that anyone puts him there. Is he really being overrated by the general public?

The point is his general status as a top p4p'er. Beating Williams, who was vastly overrated himself IMO, just doesn't cut it.
