People like you just won't quit until you're hit in the face with facts. Now I'm going to have to find the link to the story about Hatton's dad even admitting he wasn't ready for PBF and turned him down. It's widely known that Team Hatton turned down PBF after his win over Zoo in 2005 at 140 pounds.
Like I said ealier PBF was the linear champ at 147 and nothing you can do or say will change that fact. He beat the man who beat the man period that can be traced back for years.:deal BTRW I think The Ring has a little more credibility than some hater on a boxing forum.:good

You by far are the most stubborn SOB to ever grace this forum. Cotto said in his own words that he quit but it's still not good enough.:patsch I guess you know more than Cotto knows? You're quickly becoming the laughingstock of ESB now that Pacdabest has been banned, keep up the good work.:thumbsup

It was a business move to delay the fight. A smart move, too. Mayweather and Hatton's teams had been negotiating the fight for like a year and a half before they finally did fight.

Hatton's management wanted to give him some more American exposure, hence the fights in 2006 and 2007 taking place in the states.

Well Michael Bentt really didn't give him any time to put him down cause he stopped Morrison in one round. And Morrison did have Bentt hurt before Bentt dropped Morrison.

Mercer in his prime had one of the best chins in heavyweight history.

Who the **** would??? Besides Evander Holyfield. Morrison knew he had a shaky chin and he boxed Foreman(very impressively) to a UD.

Purity had a rock for a chin and could crack pretty hard himself.

Well I guess Larry Holmes is a bum for not stopping the "china chinned" Carl Williams.

Just proves again that steriods don't help in boxing.[/quote]

I guess that's why PBF called him along with Mosley and Oscar after his win in the ring after the Brusseles fight huh? Because he was scared of him. With that said it still wouldn't matter. What you fail to realize is that PBF-Zoo wasn't going to happen period but you're too stubborn to understand this. PBF was an HBO fighter and Zoo a showtime fighter they didn't have the big enough names to warrant such a fight since a joint fight between these two had only happened twice before. Let me ask you this why do you lay all the blame on PBF and not on Zoo then?

The Prince was overrated when he fought, now he's become underrated.

Almost everyone is both overrated and underrated.

If I am all the things you say I am, then why do you even wish to debate with me??

I am big enough to admit when I'm wrong, of course I am, I'm not a child, if Miguel Cotto is saying the decision was his to quit then I was wrong, but for all the world I'll never know how any of you knew this before he made this claim. He got up from the knee, at the same time his uncle jumped up on the apron and waved the white flag, the ref saw him and waved it off. I have no idea how from those events, you guys knew Miguel had made the decision. How could you know this?? But hey as I said, if Miguel Cotto said that (and I would prefer to have it verified as I don't trust anyone who behaves like "BigReg"), then I admit I was wrong. Happy now?? :D

About the Tszyu thing, it's not about applying blame, all I'm saying is a guy who was serious about fighting the best, forming the best resume, and leaving the best legacy possible, would have moved up to light-welterweight and only went for Tszyu. Tszyu at the time was #3 p4p, he was a title-holder, he was getting on a bit but obviously still very highly rated- PBF should have moved heaven and earth to get that fight, instead of taking the easy option with Corley. There is a big, big difference between 'calling him out' in the ring in a post-fight interview, and actually doing anything about it. I don't know how you can say a win over Tszyu wouldn't have improved his resume, but you're only saying that because Hatton beat Tszyu and Mayweather beat Hatton, so you think Tszyu can't have been that great. But as I've said, at the time Tszyu was p4p#3, a win over him would've meant much much more at the time than a win over a guy like Corley. Mayweather could then always have said he had a win over a top 3 p4p guy on the record, and that he had gone after the undisputed no1 in the division- now he can't say that. It wouldn't be as bad if PBF hadn't automatically accepted the networks thing as a non-starter, if he had even made an effort to try with Tszyu, made an offer, got guys round the table, but as far as I know the fight was never under discussion at any serious level. Even though PBF was a greater fighter, you must admit, De La Hoya would never have meekly accepted it if someone told him he couldn't fight the best guy in his division.

A last point to note: I'm not criticizing PBF's abilty, I'm sure he would've beaten Tszyu if he had taken the risk of fighting him.

Tyson was too fast and skilled for Liston period. Ali made Liston look very ordinary IMO and although Tyson and Ali have distinct styles, Tyson was nearly as fast, had excellent defense (in his prime), and would land more powerful punches than Ali even did on Liston. The end result would be that Tyson would would have Liston looking for a way out just like he was versus Ali.

If you don't think that Tyson is at least competitive w/ Marciano (and anybody else) H2H, that's nuts. Just taking Marciano alone comparing him to Tyson of mid 80's, what "boxing" advantage would Marciano have (this is before Tyson was prone to quitting or head hunting)? Perhaps overall ring IQ over the very young Tyson and that's it.

Regardless of what you think Tyson didn't beat all scared crack addicts and rember again using Marciano his comp is not exactly ATG either. Chrissakes Walcott was pushing 40 and Charles had been in the game 10 -15 years when Marciano beat them.

Tszyu was injured when Mayweather fought Corley.

Tszyu didn't fight for almost a two year period.

Nonsense. De La Hoya has done the same thing.

De La Hoya fought a weak title-holder at 130 for the WBO belt.

He fought Rafael Ruelas at 135 for the belt when Miguel Angel Gonzalez was considered the top lightweight in the world and a top 10 p4per. The DLH-MAGO fight didn't materialize until a year and a half later, at 140 lbs.

Nobody on earth thought Chavez was the best 140 lb. fighter in 1996, when DLH beat him. Randall won both fights against Chavez in nearly everyone's eyes and Kostya Tszyu was ranked in the top 10 p4p at the time.

How you can criticize De La Hoya's record for chasing and getting the biggest fights available is absolutely beyond me. Not worth arguing over. Just read his record.

I didn't criticize his record. His resume is impressive.

I was talking about your claim that DLH "would not meekly accept" not being able to fight the best guy in the division.
