are you like ****ing writing down **** from an alminac of boxing or some ****? you can say Iron mike and Roy are overated but that doesnt change the fact that there ATG. Mike fought top fighters like james tillis, bonecrusher smith, pinklin thomas, over the hill Holmes, spinks, etc. Jones fought the best at middle, super middle, light heavy and won a title at heavy, he eventualy was beat beacause his **** wore down. its a joke how people can say calzone is the ****ing best super middle, 10 years ago his ass didnt want anything to do with Hopkins or jones, now hes like "Ive been around forever, its just no one wanted to fight me"
Nah... Jack was underrated, a very good champion who could fit in any era of heavyweights and not look that out of place.. great defensive genius..
1.You are ill-informed, trust me. But, you said Hernandez was a "young vet". To me that just means he's quite old. He was 32, so he wasn't a young anything. And IMO he wasn't exactly a veteran anyway. He had held 1 version of the world title twice, didn't exactly have a great resume, and lost to the best fighter he fought. It is again worth noting that De La Hoya stopped the guy in less time, when Hernandez was younger and fresher, so it wasn't a stunning win for PBF by any means. 3.Yes, the word linear does mean something to me, but you didn't say that, you said undisputed, which is a different thing entirely, and also wrong in this case. At least read what you yourself wrote before you respond. 4.And to say Corrales and Castillo "ruled" 130 and 135 at the time they fought PBF is utterly ridiculous. Roy Jones Jr ruled light-heavyweight from 1999-2003. Bernard Hopkins ruled middleweight from 2001-2005. It could also be said that Joe Calzaghe ruled supermiddleweight for most of the years from 1997 til 2006 even though he never unified the titles til 2006, as he was clearly the best fighter in the division and it was obvious guys like Ottke wanted no part of him. To say that Corrales ruled superfeather or Castillo ruled light is absurd. Corrales had held 1 version of the title for 1 year before he met Mayweather. He only had two decent name opponents on his record, Derrick Gainer and Angel Manfredy, but both of these guys had 4 losses each on their records. At this time, the undefeated Joel Casamayor was WBA interim champion (he didn't fight Corrales til 2003, and he beat Chico 1st time anyway), and the undefeated Floyd Mayweather was WBC champion (ie had held a more prestigious version of the superfeatherweight title for a longer time than Corrales), and the undefeated Acelino Freitas was WBO champion (Corrales didn't fight Freitas til 2004, so your timeline is again 2-3 years out). Were these three undefeated champions 'under the rule' of a guy who had been holding the IBF belt for 1 year? Pretty obviously not. Castillo had held 1 version of the title for 2 years before he met Mayweather. The only good name on his record was Stevie Johnston, who he kept the title against by drawing with in a rematch. Castillo's last 3 fights before Mayweather were against Juan Angel Macias (26-15-2, and had lost four and drawn one of his last five), Sung-Ho Yuh (13-3-2) and Fred Ladd (45-6, had lost his last FIVE). I doubt any of these three guys were in the top 50 lightweights at the time, and they definitely were not top 10 with those records. At this time, the undefeated Paul Spadafora had been holding the IBF belt for 3 years and had just beaten Angel Manfredy. Does this sound like Castillo had been 'ruling' lightweight? Of course not. :smoke
show me the link for 2001 p4p because its no longer on wikapedia Castillio, corralles , Freitas, Casamayor, steve johnston where the best fighter at 130 and 135 , spadafora was not even in the list, floyd beat 2 out of the five , castillio has wins over 3 out of the 5 and Corralles held win over 3 out of the 5 also ,, making those tow IMO two of the best fighter at that weight , no other fighter were recognized after those two .. Im at work so I can't get to deep into but you get the picture .. and how is 32 old when 3 of the best fighters today at 130 and 135 are over the age of 32 ..

So you see you were in fact wrong about Corrales's placing and Hatton's undisputed status, let's move on. You said Hernandez was a young vet. I've already explained why I disagree. DLH stopped him when he was younger, fresher, better. It was a good win for PBF, nothing more. I never ever said Corrales and Castillo weren't quality opponents. If you look back I said Corrales was an excellent win, and I think Castillo was a very good one too. However, you said they 'ruled' their divisions when they fought Mayweather. If you read over my last post, you'll see that was not the case at all. My points with regard to this thread are that PBF has a good solid resume with some very good wins. But, if you look deeply and closely at it, it is not a great resume. Therefore, when I see PBF fans saying he is a top 5 or a top 10 p4p guy, I believe he is being widely overrated.
Who cares? These things are quite often tend to slate fighters, instead of the idiotic clueless fans and media.
