    I'm saying vitali.

This rep as a h2h beast is wholly undeserved. Not only did he fail to beat the best of his own era but the two.times he stepped up in competition he lost and in fact failed to see the final bell!

So, they just give out heavyweight belts?

Holmes was only 3 years removed from the title. And subsequently went on to earn another shot and be a major factor in the 1990's. No one ever, before or after, absolutely dominated and rag dolled Holmes as Tyson did. An underrated victory.

Tyson didn't have a choice but to fight Spinks. He was the last man holding another belt. Should he have avoided him? Instead he had an emphatic, all time victory in 90 seconds. More emphatic than Johnson's victory over Burns, Dempsey's over Willard, Louis' over Braddock, Marciano's over Walcott, as dominant as Liston's over Patterson... ad nauseum. Perhaps the most emphatic victory in grabbing the lineal title.

I only mentioned Seldon because I was only mentioning belt holders, which is one way looking at it. Another would be to include Golota, Ruddock x2, Biggs, Savarese, Williams, Green, Ferguson... all very decent fighters.

yes, i know... but my point is..... this belt holder was trash.... so ... no merit for tyson here.... i think that mike in his peak h2h would be a force, but in legacy he did beat tomato cans, average fighters, a shot holmes and a lhw during his prime,he lost by ko at 24 against a nobody , and he lost against every great fighter that he fought (evander-lewis) holmes was finished in 1988, not a great resume

Again, Holmes went on to be a major factor in the division in the early 90's. Also, the fashion in which Tyson handled Holmes was never even approached by another fighter before or after, in a very long Holmes' career which lasted well into old age.

He was past prime against Holy, and shot versus Lewis. During his prime, he cleaned out the division in emphatic fashion, a 3 year reign of terror that maybe one or two other heavies can come close to matching.

George Foreman: His first incarnation was a raw, unfinished product. For every good performance, he had something embarrassing happen like gassing out against a past-it Ali, flopping around against Lyle, and getting outboxed by the immortal Jimmy Young.

He wasn't much more than a journeyman in his second incarnation. He gets credit for fighting tough and losing to Holy. (Holyfiled is notorious for having tough fights with everyone, good and bad. Foreman isn't special for this and wasn't close to winning either.) Other than that, he landed a once in a lifetime shot against a weak chinned champ who was outclassing him and had some back and forth fights with Schultz, Savarese, Briggs.

I would be much more impressed if he actually dominated his era and then retired.

That was prescribed by a doctor for an injury.

Botha was a man wrongly accused, serving time for a crime he didn't commit.
