Don't be silly, Erdei dominated the lineal LHW champion, beat 2 former of future world champions and outpointed a full blown cruiserweight champion giving away 20 pounds in a short notice fight he was supposed to lose. Who did he duck? For quite some time Hopkins and Jones were his mandatories and neither wanted to force the issue, Danny Green retired in the middle of unification negotiations and Erdei's reign ended when he was forced to vacate the WBO belt so German Brahmer could get it easier, now that's a padded way to the top.

Padded resume is when you face no fighter in your entire career/prime that could cause you troubles based on skills, style or physical things. Chavez Jr. might retire without facing a top fighter (and still could have 2-3 losses already) and there are several HWs out there with a terribly padded record.

I really don't understand what these fighters get out of it. It's not like they are making the big bucks, and it can only be seen as an achievment if you're delusional.
This is one of the reasons why I prefer amateur boxing to be honest. Real tournaments without ducking. Too bad the scoring system is so shitty often.

It is a way to making big bucks. You rack up enough wins, that you "buy yourself" a ticket to a big fight (most probably bigger than your skillset would warrant). That's the money earner. Even should you lose that fight, you've covered yourself for the future.

That is the general consensus of many parts of Africa and eastern Europe.

Boxing News in Britain uncovered a gym in Africa where fighter would simply take 1 punch and stay knocked down. there was no crowd, just 2 fighters a ref and an 'official'. Fight over and another win on the record, 20 fights or so and send them into a German ring to fight a 'prospect' to earn a payday.

The BBBoC has banned such fights from taking place and demands tapes before sanctioning any fights involving unknown fighters like these. The krauts however pave the way for these joker and openly welcome these con-artists as they boost the name and winning records of their prospects. Yet another dagger into the heart of boxing :-(
