It doesn't surprise me one bit. Only the hardcore fans know that boxing is much more conplex than just two fighters swinging their arms. In pro boxing there is a system that is used to score fights round by round, and unlike the ams punch count is not a scoring criteria. I see many fans saying Golovkin won because he landed more punches. Pro boxing doesn't work that way. If it did they would let the fighters duke it out and then count the punches landed and declare the winner. To score a pro boxing fight you must factor into the scoring the fighters Defense, Clean punching, Ring Generalship and effective aggressiveness. This may be to complex for some of our forum residents, but that's what pro boxing is.. A complex sport, subjective, and detailed. If people understood how to score a fight we would hear a lot less people crying robbery every time there is a close fight. Canelo landed the cleaner punches more consistently. He had better defense. Ring Generalship was Canelo's, and effective aggression was closer but based on punch connect ratio, Canelo won that too through most of the rounds.
This is a post designed to justify Canelo's robbery. Trust me, the vast majority of boxing fans who watch the full fight from Round 1 to Round 12 with attention to each round and fight, knows who won the fight in the end and that was GGG in both fights who landed more jabs and threw more power shots and won most of the rounds in both fights.
"Only the hardcore fans know that boxing is much more conplex than just two fighters swinging their arms." You're right, that's why @IntentionalButt scored it 116-112 and I scored it 117-111 for Golovkin.
Anyone who uses the word Robbery in a close fight is a ****ing moron, and really doesn't understand the concept of the sport of boxing.
You're missing a few pieces.. EFFECTIVE agression Defense Clean punching Ring Generalship The first fight was harder to score than this fight based on GGG having more success with Ring Generalship and aggression in the middle rounds.
Canelo edged GGG in Ring Generalship, but not that much. He also has more power punches. IMHO he inputted more and better counter punches GGG has more number of punches landed. After I rewatched the match, I think I'll revise my previous score to be Draw.
When you have the NSAC Commissioner Bob Bennett saying "Byrd is one of my best judges" after her ludicrous 118-110 card for Canelo. I think its obvious where the problem lies
