Agree, its just the know it alls who like to think they know it all unfortunately they dont, they just look like dicks but if it makes them feel better...sigh! its only cos they are lacking in some other department! :good
I dont know about know it all attitude but you have to take a strong stance when posters think that Bellew beat Cleverly , boxing mags were saying 117-111 Clev, the judges on the whole had Clev winning clearly on the scorecards, the experts on the box were saying Clev but some numbnuts on here were saying Bellew . It was the same when Calzaghe beat Hopkins, Calzaghe outpunched and outlanded Hopkins in every single round of the entire fight , winning 116-111 and 115-112 on the scorecards yet some doughnuts were saying they thought Hopkins had won. They will be saying next that Robin Reid beat Calzaghe when Joe won 116-111 on two different judges scorecards i shouldnt wonder.
Havent seen the Pac v Marquez 111 fight yet, apparently none of the three judges scored any round even in the entire fight ?....hmm
I think professional boxing needs to be judged by computers. Hi tech computers that, count clean shots landed, body shots, shots on gloves which penetrate, knock downs, etc.... They have the technology to easily do this, **** judges...
I'd just have more judges for the bigger fights. Assuming none of them are corrupt, more judges would presumably cancel out the ones having an off night. People collect the scores from journalists at ringside, have there been any notable examples of them (in the majority) getting it wrong? I can sort of see the arguement that it's a bit unfair that winning a clear round and a close round are worth the same, but that's the sport. A 1-0 win in football is worth the same amount of points as a 6-0 win. Equally, scoring rounds 9-9 is basically the same as scoring them 10-10, but the rules of the sport dictate 10 points have to be given to someone (barring deductions). Yeah, you can make up your own criteria if you want, but what's the point?
is it time the judges weren't sat at ringside? and they should defo be brought in from outside the promoters remit, maybe some kind of lottery some of the scoring in this thread is a joke
Roy Skeldon lost his September 1989 Commonwealth title fight to Guy Waters by a score of 120/98 according to one judge. http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=4071&cat=boxer
