From the past era, Frank Bruno and Razor Ruddock were both physically imposing, I would say.

Bruno was a ripped specimen, to say the absolute least. As was Oliver McCall.

And years ago, Ken Norton was, as well. Big George, too.

Welterweight has to be Margo and Clottey.

Two monsters at that weight who have granite chins and great workrate.

Both guys are specimens for sure.

Paul Williams will have to be considered.

In the entire sport, the guy I would least like to **** off and have to deal with is

    .

Yes, Wlad is a little larger, muscularly, and Valuev is bigger with the Cro Magnon head, but Vitali has never lost a professional boxing match he wasn't injured or very badly cut in, has only been legitimately (by a blow) KO'd in like one fight (shout out to Pele Reid, who did it with a kick) in all of his pro and amateur days (including his kickboxing career. Yes, remember, this physical freak could just as easily kick your head off as punch it off), came up in a Soviet military family and the Soviet sports machine (he still has his secretive camps like the one for Peter) and clearly enjoys both being a bully and kicking people's asses. He has a granite chin and is as intimidating a guy as there is in boxing:

    Oh, and he's 6' 7.5" and 250 lbs.

Now, some of the attributes I mentioned above aren't physical but are mental or based on knowing Vitali's history, but pretty much everyone does. And, part of being physically imposing is knowing how to project that you're a badass. Vitali is much better at that than Wlad or Valuev.

The reason why Lennox Lewis -- a very intimidating presence himself -- is so consumed with the Klitschkos, particularly Vitali, is because, as a former fighter was saying here the other day, he wasn't able to get a clean KO of Klitschko himself, had to deal with Vitali in his face as soon as the fight was stopped, had to walk away from the sport and renege on his agreement to a rematch and can't even enjoy the satisfaction of seeing someone else definitively beat, let alone knock out, Klitschko. That has got to be upsetting, and clearly it has driven Lennox for some time to try to help ensure a Vitali (or Wlad) loss for years, one that has not happened (to Vitali, the real object of Lewis' ire, IMO).

The thing is, if you know all of this, like someone such as Haye does, that's intimidating. If your best case scenario for getting a win over a person is that he either breaks down physically or he's so old he's 'lost it' (particularly after witnessing what Vitali just did to Sam Peter), you have problems. Again, this isn't a physical quality but it's a very tangible hurdle to have to deal with if you are going to fight a guy, and it goes into my assessment of Vitali, even at 37, as the most dominating current presence in the sport.

Here is another guy who has to be mentioned in any discussion of physically impressive/imposing fighters:

is a freak, and there's just no way around it. His weigh in pics over the years, with the super flexes like the one above, are some of the funniest and coolest stuff that's out there. He looks like the Bruce Lee of boxing, and I mean that a compliment. Plus, you know he's fast as hell and has insane stamina, so those are two more things that make him a physically/athletically imposing opponent.

Incredible physique on that guy, as well as being tall (6' 3") and very long in the arms (82", longer than both Klitschkos' reach).

140 - Hatton is extremely strong for a guy at 140, he has short arms and is not very tall, but I would definitely describe him as physically imposing at that weight

    147 - Easy - Margo and Paul Williams ,

154 - still Paul Williams, the guy made Verno Phillips look tiny

160 - Pavlik & AA , Pavlik is nearly 6'3 with great power and reach at 160, AA's upper body is built like a HW
