I'll go with the consensus. I think Shavers right hand is the hardest single punch in the history of the sport.

I'll take a Joe Louis' right because it is more likely to hit on target more often. Of course, if ol' Joe wound up on his right like Shavers did he would go down as having the hardest single punch ever. As it is, he remains the greatest heavyweight puncher with the most power delivered (because of precision accuracy, speed and timing).

We all know the Louis right hand is greater, but the question of the thread is only for pure power. For pure power i am taking The Acorn everytime over Louis, as well as a few others. It's a massive punch.

Louis with a big wind up may or may not have hit much harder than he did. His mechanics, leverage and kinetics were superb.

Wlad's a big hitter and could stay on, but i'd agree Liston could have been there from the start.

In the absence of any true scientific study I'll go with the Shaver's right hand I guess.

there is no doubt in my mind that Baer and Shavers would have delivered more power in their punching had they not swung for the fences at every opportunity.

Louis, Shavers, Foreman. Take your pick. They are probably the top three.

A bit of both. Not many fighters hit opponents with only a single shot on a regular basis and buried them. Even fighters like Foreman, Shavers, and Louis, etc, needed two or three blows. Lewis' power was rather lethal at the best of times though. He deserves a placing, no question.

How many times did Foreman knock people over with single punches tho? I think Foreman was more clubbing like than Lewis TBH. Even the greatest hitters in history didn't take people out with a single punch as a rule.
