McCallum. Anyone with a hint of fragility, Hagler will find it. He's like a big cat when it comes to weakness.
McCallum. A beautiful, workmanlike boxer with old school skills and bodywork. Almost Hagler without the air of menace and charisma....
Two important boxers, in my opinion Kalambay was a champion and McCallum a great champion (for me his name can be compared to those of Hopkins, Roy Jones Jr and Toney). Then I think that Hagler would have been favored with both, the workrate of the marvelous, his ability to land all the shots and to switch guard, the stamina and iron chin would have prevailed over the excellent technique of Kalambay and McCallum. A note on Kalambay, several people remember him for the defeat in the first round with Nunn but the Italian fighter defeated Collins, Barkley and especially McCallum, against whom he lost the rematch by SD after a very close fight. Kalambay was a really strong boxer and a defeat in the first round was also suffered by great champions like Emily Griffith and Jack Dempsey.
I think both would give certain problem McCallum is a textbook boxer with a great jab great body work and good pretty much everywhere. Kalambay is a great outside boxer good at keeping people at range and picking them apart with his jab and countering them when they come close he put on an absolute masterclass against McCallum in their first fight and even second one was really close. Overall while both would be tough fights for Hagler I feel like Kalambay would be a bit tricker Hagler wasn't the best against boxers and Kalambay was an amazing one who has shown he can school an ATG in McCallum
Kalambay was a great fighter, but I feel like there were exploitable holes in his style, and they'd be especially open for Hagler. I think that Marvin would knock him out, not as early as Nunn, but I feel that it'd be inevitable. Go watch Sumbu defend his title against Sims, he gets rocked multiple times against a much lesser fighter in Robbie. McCallum isn't the PERFECT boxer, but I feel that he'd be a much bigger problem to overcome than Kalambay, especially for Hagler.
