    That was most punches in the total fight for heavyweight. I'm talking most punches thrown in a single round. This particular fight didn't go the distance.

    I'm not sure if that heavyweight record still stands, but I think it does. I know this one hasn't been beaten though. I've got to scour my thousands of VHS tapes and find this **** to upload to youtube.

    :lol: That was a tactical battle. I remember that fight clearly. I was pulling for Griffin. Too slow that one was.

    Yeah, Griffon acted like a *****, but I compare it to the Mayweather/Ortiz incident. Same thing really.

    Well,

    there are a few problems with the question.

    1: You don't specify "punches thrown" or "punches landed."

    2: You require a compubox total, which limits the answer to HBO fights in the last 20 years or so. It also puts the answer in the hands of those 2 idiots who input the compu-box numbers.

    Anyway, according to some guy named "Google:"

    "The record for most punches THROWN in a single round is held by Vince Phillips. He threw 237 punches in the 12th and final round of his decision loss to Ray Oliveira on 12/22/2000. " - no idea how many the other guy landed, but that's pretty impressive: 2.5 shots PER SECOND.

    -The source is HBO, so I assume that's a compu-box total.
