Tua-Ibeabuchi I think broke the punchstat record.

 

I hear that Rocky Marciano threw an astonishing number of punches per round. I have several of his fights and he does throw a lot of punches. Have people counted his punchers? How do other heavyweights compare?

 

If we do not take into acount length of fight then Nelson Wolgast takes the record.

An average of aprox 85 punches per round per fighter over 42 rounds.

Not bad.

I think Ray Oliviera set the record in his fight with Vince Phillips...but I could be mistaken- it might have been sucre Ray who set the record.

Also I know Troy Dorsey and Kevin Kelley had a high punching volume in their 1992 clash.

Joe Calzaghe slaps too fast for the naked eye to follow.

If you doubt it, ask Jeff Lacey. He got the **** slapped out of him for a reason.

 

In all seriousness you are right. I tried counting and it is definitely 2000+ but their are point we nobody could tell whether Calzaghe threw 3 or 7 punches in his last combination.

 

With 371 punches thrown by both in the final round alone! More than 2 punches every second of the round.

 

Oliveira was a damn machine.
