Most reasonable p4p list right now!

"Jumping" weight basically defines what P4P means IMO. Hence why its difficult to put HW as P4P.

Also how good does that Callum Smith win look now.... I hope Castillo is ok.

 

Canelo should not be Top 3, he would have to be #1, but so many shady “ wins” are on his record and he was caught juicing , so imo he don’t belong in top3.

Uysk's footwork last night was masterful

Ironically that if anyone currently at elite level could be termed a plodder, it's Canelo whose footwork is not the best aspect of his game.

Usyk uses a lot of awkward footwork, a lot of herky jerky motion. The kind of constant movement he used in the early rounds worked against AJ, but it wouldn't work at the lower weights against faster and more athletic fighters if we're comparing him to other fighters in a P4P sense. He has good footwork for a heavyweight don't get me wrong, it's just an awkward bouncing back and forth style that caused AJ problems, that's what I was getting at.

 

well "Plodder" was obviously the wrong word to describe it with, lol

and who knows exactly how a shrunken down Usyk would perform, maybe far faster than his current heavyweight size is just as possible shadow.

Do you have any idea how many posters on here argue Canelo is a plodder? If we're going to compare Canelo and Usyk in a P4P sense, then we have to talk about footwork. So who has better footwork, Canelo or Usyk. And really think about what better footwork means.

Canelo in recent fights is content walking down his opponents, and not needing to be fleet footed, but that doesn't make him a plodder. We seen the kind of footwork he has back in 2017 when he fought GGG the first time. The footwork Canelo displayed against GGG the first time was far better and more masterful than what Usyk showed last night. There's a difference here, Canelo is a smooth operator. No wasted motion, smooth movement. Emphatic feints that cause reactions from opponents. Usyk on the other hand, is the complete opposite, herky jerky, bouncing back and forth in a frenetic pace. That's what I mean by plodder. He's very awkward and jittery as a fighter. Constantly moving in random ways. This style gave AJ problems, but comparing him to Canelo in a P4P sense is a huge stretch. I think you recognize this Pimp, you know Canelo's the clear P4P #1 and Usyk is nowhere near his level.

 

I don't like that heavyweights like Fury get eliminated from P4P conversations just because they are big. Are we saying that Fury wouldn't be insanely skilled if he had trained for his whole life as a smaller man? Of course not. It's actually impressive how skilled he is considering his size

Triggered much? Plenty of people call Canelo a plodder and he has far better footwork and all around skills than Usyk. Usyk has good footwork and awkward movement for a Heavyweight, but in a P4P sense he's very basic and not that impressive. Usyk took a lot of damage to the head last night, he has a tendency to walk into punches because he's constantly moving in odd ways. Calling that masterful is a bit much, but I'll give him credit where it's due - he did duck one of AJ's big straight right hands. Don't get me wrong, I'm not hating on Usyk, he's very good for a Heavyweight and he deserves credit for doing what he did to Joshua, but this topic is about P4P and people putting Usyk #1 P4P lmao.

Usyk's activity level and work rate is the main thing that got him the win over AJ. Not his footwork, certainly not his defense. Just being busier, AJ stood right in front of him for most of the night. Now people are doing the typical thing on here and hyping him to the moon and making all kinds of crazy arguments. There's plenty of fighters that I would call plodders that most people wouldn't. It's a descriptor to differentiate awkward herky-jerky effectiveness and balanced smooth movement.
