Just my opinion, but the Gatti v Ward trilogy doesn't do it for me as much as it does for others. I think probably because the skill level of the fighters isn't at its best. Incredible clash of syles though. But give me Morales v Barrera, Holyfield v Bowe, Ali v Frazier over it.
Morales v Barrera is prob the best trilogy to watch skill at the highest level. Ali v Frazier didnt really do it for me as a spectacle, probably because the last fight made me feel sick at the end
I see your point and agree to an extent, but I'm always a sucker for wars. Gatti was by far the superior boxer IMO. At times he made Ward look like himself when he fought Mayweather. I also think that Gatti should have won on cards in the first, but having said that, the fight should have been stopped in the 9th, so alls well ends well I guess.
If we are talking about the overall quality of the trilogy. I'll take Marquez vs. Vasquez I, II and III. (Please disregard that **** they called a IV this year!) For quality, that is absolute P4P No. 1 Contender!
Watched Hagler VS Hearns, Hagler VS Duran and Little Red Lopez VS Mike Ayla two days ago. Might watch a early Pacman bout tonight.
I have to agree with contendo that trilogy between vazquez amd marquez was top draw. You couldnt expect much better.
Bought the contender season 3 on dvd the other day as i haven't seen the Bika/Codrington fight and have heard it was a war.
Finally got around to watch Soto v Antillon in full. Didn't think it was anywhere near as close as the judges had it, but a good fight none the less.
Looking forward to the potential rematch of Soto-Antillon on the Pacman-Mosley undercard. Should be a terrific card if they can get Wilfredo Vazquez Jr vs Jorge Arce on it too for Vazquez's WBO Super Bantamweight title.
Pavlik-Taylor 1 - is 1 of my more favourite matches in recent years. Quality fight that had massive importance...just adds that little extra to it.
