I thought the OP meant fighters who are getting close to retirement... is Pacquiao close to retirement? :think Anyways, my answer is definitely Bernard Hopkins, followed by Barrera, Mosley, Marquez brothers and Izzy Vasquez. Those were off the top of my head, I'm sure there are others less known fighters who deserve much respect too.
Evander Holyfield perhaps. You have to respect The Real Deal even if he is fighting on for way too long.
****, I almost forgot he is still fighting. Well, to be honest I don't really consider him "active"... the guy should have retired a long time ago. Much respect to him, but he is gonna get himself killed in the ring.
He's fighting Valuev soon so he is still active. Even in his dilusional (it feels harsh, but it's true) quest for a 5th title, I still have a lot of respect for him. The never-quit mentality, his refusal to give in and his virtually unmatched determination and will, it's what made him GREAT. Hopefully it isn't what turns him into a tragic figure.
was gonna say muhammad ali but then realised it said active I cant see how anybody could not respect glen johnson.
Bernard , Evander , Shane, Vernon.. They are not the same as they were 6 or 7 years ago, but the fact they are still knocking says an awful lot..
Yes, I know that, I just wish it wasn't true. :verysad I guess the "never quit mentality" has turned into "stupidity" for good ol' Evander right now. It is DANGEROUS for him out there now. I also hope your last sentence doesn't get materialized...
Yes he is.... I think.... ? Seriously, if you ask me he shouldn't be active right now. Time to step down.
yeah, Hopkins. I wanna say this. Man, Hopkins ring smarts is just out of this world. B-Hop would probably be a great trainer one day.
