Initially, hd, I thought Ward was a colorless well-schooled standup boxer-- more amateur than pro -- with good wheels 'n textbook combos, but no eraser 'n too fragile stepping up in class, 'n certainly no PPV potential.

But, his infighting against Green -- TOTALLY SHUTTING HIM DOWN -- was MASTERFUL. Doesn't get better than that. Plus, he doesn't wilt under trash talk or the pressure of being center stage.

Did you think Lacey was a hype job initially, DB, when he looked like King Kong flattening guys, or after Calzaghi exposed him?

Most people say it because of the Calzaghe fight but he didnt look that good against Sheika either.

Was it Cotto's brother's fast start, where he rocked him, that makes you feel that way, AD?

    Anthony Mundine.

Many german fighters are/were ridiculously hyped in Germany: Sven Ottke, Felix Sturm, Jürgen Braehmer, Dimitrenko, Sebastian Sylvester... the list goes on.
Ironically, some of their best fighters never got their just due, like Graciano Roccighiani

It was the main commentator (not Ian Darke). The way he said it was like he meant ability but I think he actually meant style, like you said. Terrible fighter to watch...

It continues to amaze me that most people here still don't know the difference between being overrated and a hype job. A hype job is someone who never wins a fight of note or a title but was built up as the second coming. Guys like Pavlik, Ward and Berto aren't hype jobs they won world titles and have beaten world class guys. Overrated maybe but not hype jobs learn the difference.:deal Hype jobs don't get to their level they get beaten and exposed way before that. Bojado and Camacho Jr are perfect examples of hype jobs.

I'm shocked that Cris Arreola hasn't been mentioned yet, of recent ones.
