Arslanbek Makhmudov learning some boxing skills or improving his ring IQ from non-existant to very bad would easily trump everything that was mentioned in this thread. However, there are no chances for either of those thing ever happening, so I'd go with a fanman landing at the ring during Bowe - Holyfield rematch
Sal Sanchez tragically dying . Gomez said he lost because he only had a 25 day training camp and if he had a full camp he would win. Sadly Gomez never had the opportunity for redemption
Ali’s exhibition with Antonio Inoki: A Japanese wrestler who promptly crab-walked with his back to the canvas and kicked Ali’s legs to the point he got blood clots in his shins. Foreman’s exhibition against five opponents known as the Toronto Five. Danny “Partridge” Bonaduce vs. Donny Osmond.
VERY surprised that no one has yet to bring up oliver mccall's mental and emotional breakdown inside the ring against lennox lewis in their rematch.
Peter Müller vs. Hans Stretz when Peter Müller knocked out the referee and then attacked others in a rage. Well, somehow the knockout isn't visible. This content is protected
Benn - McClellan was in its brutality and result. I remember a lot of folks at the time questioning whether boxing was worth following as a sport, myself included.
But Jaro had just knocked out four straight opponents with losing records. How could you not expect him to win! After all, Wongjongkam was only 83-3-2 and had been a world champion on and off for 11 years. What a bum! Good call!
If I'm 100% serious, Duran/Leonard II is never going to lose this. I don't care how crazy it's gotten. I cannot think of anything like it of that degree of importance. I mean, upsets might be incredible, injuries might be flukish or horrifying or disgusting, riots might be nasty and scary and chaotic, but what Duran did, especially considering who HE was and would continue to be afterward, is so bizarre, I'm not sure any of us even still know what to make of it. It's almost information you cannot assimilate.
Beterbiev is 39 and rather inactive and while his record is excellent there were signs of wear and tear in his most recent fight. I think Smith will win fair and square.
To this Ill add El Chapo turning his back on Ramirez in 1984 At least to us Puerto Ricans this was highly unexpected....
I don’t think there’s anything dodgy about him stopping that fight. He’s inches in front of Taylor’s face trying to ascertain if he’s OK, even asks if he wants to continue, and Taylor is staring off into space. That’s a guy who is incapacitated, and to incapacitate (or outpoint) your opponent is the objective of boxing. That objective was achieved. If Meldrick had nodded yes and said he is good, wants to continue, then we’re talking about a different kettle of fish. But he didn’t. End/
Great ref. He did his job in that fight. And his job was not to watch the clock. How destroyed Taylor was after that fight only attests to this fact.
