    Are you talking about me?

Jones was shot after the Tarver KO destroyed him mentally.

"He fought and beat 2 guys who would never have even been in the ring with him when prime"

This reads like you are implying they would be too scared to get in the ring with a "prime Eubank"

Sorry, I don't feel Eubank's unsuccessful bid for the Cruisweight Championship AFTER THE FACT takes any sparkle off of Calzaghe's win. That is illogical. You asked if you are suppose to believe Calzaghe ruined him? What a stupid thing to say.

The truth is his reckless style simply couldn't stand up the punches of 180+ lb Champion and his eye got injured, ending his career. I mean we are talking the diffrence between fighting Calzaghe and a power punching Cruiser. Not a fair way to guage Eubank's abilities because the circumstances are so radically different.

That is how it went down. Why you want to ignore the details and simply view it as 2 losses post Calzaghe is rather odd.

So what are you trying to say???

Once you get beaten by a top ranked fighter, you're suddenly shot??

Even though you've looked great in previous fights.

Were Toney and Hopkins shot after RJJ beat them

Collins beat a prime Eubank. End of discussion

-Both fighters agreed to the short notice clash. Eubank stated the weight wasn't a problem and he clearly had superior stamina than Calzaghe by coming back from the knockdown and finishing the fight stronger while Joe looked spent and ready to go.

-I personally scored the second fight for Eubank. So why are two close losses to Collins evidence of a decline? Collins was a great fighter in hs own right and his style was made for frustrating Eubank unlike Benn who played up to it..and still gave Eubank problems.

    Essentially..this thread in a nutshell.

Chris Eubank: The weight wasn't a problem, I over looked his power. He would have always troubled me.

ESB: SHUT UP EUBANK, YOU ****ING LIAR!!!!

I was talking about his 2 fights prior to Calzaghe. Those guys wouldn't have been in there with Eubank in his prime.

Not really trying to add or detract any sparkle. I still think it was a decent win. But not more.

That's exactly my point. These types of things and sillier have been said by some Calzaghe fans.

It is still indicative of a downward trend. And it isn't only the mere fact that it was 2 losses, it was a combination of losses prior, inactivity, no notable wins and the fast approaching end of a distinguished career. It's fairly simple. Looking for more is merely looking for reasons to defend Calzaghe in my book.

Steve Collins was a great fighter but even he wasn't prime when he fought Eubank and both had moved up from Middleweight.

I have no problem with the Eubank fight. Calzaghe was a nobody back then and that version(if not shot then definitely in decline) of Eubank would give a good barometer of where Calzaghe was at the point.

    Id compare to Hatton Tsyzu.

What bothered me about Calzaghe was the years after spent defending his title against less than stellar competition.

    Heres an interesting topic

that Eubank against Sat nights Froch?

Maybe you should try that line of argument.

Eubank was a better fighter than Carl but his career was over by the time he was 31. Froch's career at the top level started at 31. Both are decent wins for Ward & Calzaghe but I would say Froch is the bigger challange.

-Well..he won those fights by KO at LHW. Hardly a guage of anything except he could carry his power to a higher weight class and do what he was expected to do in set ups like that. As we know..truly shot fighters don't do that.

    -I address individuals.

-I feel using the Thompson fights as a guage are reaching for reasons to discredit Calzaghe. After losing to Calzaghe, Eubank put on 20 lbs and beat up the Cruiser Champ before his eye gave out on him...so? he couldn't cut it at Cruiser, got injured, and called it a career.
