    When two eras met in the ring and it was a big deal, I think a prime example is Lewis-Klitschko. Do you agree? What other such fights qualify?

    Bowe - Holyfield I would have been a contender if Evander had only read the script.

    Ditto, McCallum v Toney. Old slickster v young slickster. All Mike had to do was go out graciously on his sword but he messed that up and put up a superb showing. You can see the promoter - 'Mike. You had one job.'

    De la Hoya v Chavez is a good shout although, there, I feel the man of the new era was already in situ. It was the old guy unsuccessfully trying to muscle his way back in rather than a passing of the torch.

    Trinidad v Blocker was a definite end of an era. Felix really brought the curtain down on that Starling/Brown/McGirt/Honeyghan/Blocker etc era of welters. I do prefer my passing of the torch fights to be more competitive though.
