    Holmes vs Cooney . A fight not on the list was also socially significant.
    Imagine, you're the Heavyweight Championship of the World.
    Yet your opponent Gerry Cooney, has a direct line in his room to the president of the United States.
    If he won, Ronald Reagan would've been one of the 1st people to congratulate him.
    Is it a wonder Holmes became a bitter man?

    I know ah? Either racism, not knowing enough about boxing, both or just believing the hoopla the media created around Gerry.

    I like Gerry, a very good man and a very good boxer. But lets face it....unless you were 9 and a half like me or fell under the four other categories I mentioned above, you could not believe he had a chance to beat Larry Holmes!
