    I always dreamed when i was younger that cruiser weight would be a great division in the future.

    That future is now.

    A spring board for the elite cruisers to challenge the big guys for all the marbles.

    Following up on my earlier posts, I think judging depth by either metric (the # of current elites and/or boxers flirting with or already ensconced in p4p lists; and looking into Backfill Availability to get a glimpse down the road at plausible 'replacement elites') the same ranking in the same order holds more or less true. Cruiser, middle and light heavy all have a plethora of seemingly very strong talent in the second (and even third) wave currently waiting in the wings for their chance to inherit the position held by the few on top for now. Super fly is about to bottom out and lose its luster - and the BEST heavyweight can possibly hope for in a couple of years is to remain pretty much as good as it now is (Usyk coming up helps, but Povetkin will have to wind down and bow out eventually...Pulev and Ortiz are old as well...Joshua might ruin Parker and put a career-shortening beating on him...and what's left? Hughie Fury? Old, mediocre Browne? Meh...going to be just as top heavy if not worse in a couple of years, just by way of turnover, even with an influx of talent siphoned off from Cruiser)

    Thank goodness there's youtube otherwise I wouldn't have been able to see the best cruiserweight fights in a while usyk-briedis and gassiev-doticos. There should be way more interest in the cruiserweight division but this is basically preaching to the choir.

    Hm. I know the whole P4P idea is entirely opinion based with no rules, but c'mon, what's the point of stretching that? Povetkin > Lebedev in this context, in every way almost without debate, yet he can't get his name bolded? Eh.

    EDIT: Ok, Ok, just saw the "top 25 p4p" bit. Slight retraction of my statement. I assumed top 10. Even so, my point with Povetkin and Lebedev stands.

    Sorry but that opinion can't be shared by more than 10% out there.

    ^ Lebedev arguably doesn't have a single clear AND official loss. There was no ambiguity vs. Jones but it was overturned. With the Huck decision, an overwhelming majority called it a robbery. There wasn't even a sizable minority claiming the result was acceptable or that Huck edged it on their cards. Gassiev was a bit more legit but there are still many who saw it for Lebedev. So a close fight with a #1-3 guy in the division (remains to be seen pending the Usyk vs. Gassiev outcome), in which a lot of folks had it for him, stands as his only official non-robbery loss. One (close) loss doesn't detract from his weighty win column, which I'd say is is arguably deeper than Povetkin's (criticisms of his resume are well documented elsewhere; I happen to consider Sasha's heavyweight resume underrated but I won't go as far as saying clearly better than Lebedev's at CW)...while Tete and Estrada have, what, a couple of quality wins each placing them on the elite tier? (okay, several quality wins in El Gallo's case but offset by two very clear losses). Minus which they're completely unremarkable on paper. And I say that as a big fan of both.

    ...and you and I are usually on the same page, Nonito, and here is no different: I consider Povetkin, Tete, and Estrada to all be just on the bubble - and Lebedev only just barely made it to bold text, was sort of a last second call. The former three were like 49-51 and Lebedev like 52-48 in my internal monologue's final voting, could have easily swung the other way had I been caught in a different mood on another day while authoring the OP.

    I think Lebedev is among the few subjects where you and I really diverge to a noticeable degree. You've always been very harsh on him, as I recall. I'm no raging fan-boy of his but respect his body of work and consider him a longtime h2h force to be reckoned with.

    Just a Few months ago Everyone was in agreement that Cruiser is the strongest division in boxing or at least top 3.

    And now very suddenly and (predictably) after Usyk's great win you got these haters like @Caper and @Jackomano trying to claim it's mediocre ! :lol::lol: Some guys on here are having breakdowns after Usyk's win :lol:

    Cruiserweight is the strongest, followed by Bivol division, then Golovkins division, then Loma’s division.

    When Usyk and Gassiev move up and beat the heavies that division will be great also.

    Bantamweight got red-hot all of a sudden. And, with the possibility of three top cruisers moving up, it's now up for consideration as being the best division.

    I believe the division is middle of the pack mediocre defines something as adequate but not very good (your words). My definition straddles the line of very good and average because boxings sample size and talent pool has grown exponentially in my personal opinion. Still I’m not sure how this equates to me breaking down because of Usyks win. I’m a fan of Usyk and praised his win and his superior ability. Now you’re mentioning my name and spreading inaccuracies? Half the names you mentioned co-signing the CW division are well known as some some of the most biased undercover ethnocentrics on this forum yet you use them as valid trustworthy reference points. Why would anyone take you seriously.

    CW division is a solid division with plenty of talent up top but not a lot of pro exposure and resume depth. If you can’t handle differing opinions and valuations then consider it a personal issue just keep my name out your mouth. I don’t live vicariously through the successes of alpha males and portray them as a representation of my clan like many on here. I am the alpha the omega.....(at least I am to my kids) lol.

    Careful what you wish for, it may just come true and in all honesty you don’t want to go toe to toe with me. (No not physically, just in case that antiquated brain of yours took it that way)

    I like the relative parity in the sport where a sleeper or dark horse candidate has the potential to become the glamour division just by elevating a few outer fringe guys to bona fide elite status while a previously stronger class sees its best & brightest taken down a peg. Makes for a more interesting topographical atlas of boxing and prevents fans from falling into the lazy hole of neglecting entire swaths of the weight spectrum. :thumbsup:
