Whitaker's defense was straight up alien ****! NO ONE could touch this man! This man beat DLH at the later end of his career and he still couldn't be touched in their fight! sick!

Whitaker was the truth I don't know how anyone could compare Mayweather to him. Defensively they are not even close. Hand Speed Floyd could have been a little faster and Roy Jones obviously faster with power as well but Roys Offense was his Defence..Pernell Whitaker is what you call Text Book boxing at its best.

Nah, Jones had amazing footwork and reflexes. His defense was that you couldn't hit him cleanly which set up his amazing counter punching.

    WHAT???

OMFG...first the Duran post now this....

FACT - JCC was the NUMBER 1 P4P fighter on the planet at that time.

FACT - JCC was UNDEFEATED at that time.

FACT - JCC was 31 years old at that time....31 is old???

FACT - JCC fought for another 12 years after that fight.

FACT - JCC got a gift draw and got taken to school that night.

FACT - That statement of yours was ****in ridiculous.

Whitaker fought an old JCC...you sound like guerrero_soul (and that is NOT a compliment)...

Ya probably think Chavez was robbed too or the draw was a good decision, dont ya?

    :patsch

Agreed, too many attack Jones today by saying that his defense was subpar. Go back and watch video, the man was so busy mystifying people with his unorthodox and lightening fast punching that it didnt matter. Roy had people stuck on stupid, and in his day fighters barely wanted to come forward because they knew he was going to land 2 or 3 and then be somewhere else. Even Ruiz didnt want to engage. :deal

Pea did everything Floyd can do now and more... and without as many detours around the ring.

Roy Jones intimidated the **** out of everyone he fought because the speed and power behind his counter shots...he was incredibly athletic and his body just produced incredible power...But Roy never really fought with a defensive mentality. Just about everyone he fought was chicken **** of him. And they paralyzed because of his speed. My point was that defensively Roy and Mayweather don't compare to Whitaker because he was so natural in there. Mayweather is the closest thing but if you can see when Mayweather gets under pressure he isn't natural about it. He panics and lets his legs take care of it but Whitaker could stand there right in front of you like a little snake slithering around your entire combination.

Well no, Jones is not as good defensively as Whitaker. Only 2 or 3 fighters ever are.

But Jones was better offensively overall because of his power, even thought Pea was great offensively.

Jones had great defense. Look at how many people swung at Jones and missed. Even Hopkins had a tough time hitting Jones, and that was a more aggressive Hopkins.
