Not Ali, who has the best HW resume ever. Ali simply had great reflexes and was super fast. Then he became a spoiler with still good reflexes and speed but not like before. Ali would even go straight back. He was more like Roy Jones in that their athleticism carried them.

Ali was the most skilled, with Joe Louis following. Ali also had the most smarts. Lewis and Tyson were great fighters in their prime. Foreman was special just based on size and strength. Vlad would be a contender in another era, but only that.

Tyson Fury is the most skilled HW of all time actually

Fury is like the Bobby Fischer of boxing. He reached a peak that no one has ever reached before and was forced aside due to politics

It has to be joe Louis, imagine a 2017 version 6foot 4 weighing 240 pounds. He would be unbeatable. Has all the punch in the book, short and compact, still p4p one the best right hand in the sport.
Before anyone says Muhammad Ali would beat him. There would not be an Ali in nowadays land of giant.

What in the hell are you babbling about? Louis was a small man compared to modern Super Heavyweights. Louis was not 6'4 240 lbs. Louis was about 200 lbs end of story. What the **** is this magically changing fighters size to justify them beating modern Super Heavyweights like Lennox Lewis, Vitali Klitschko other Klitschko and of course The Gypsy King Tyson Fury

A lot of people believe they have to be big in order to compete today, that is why they do it, even if they don't admit that is why they do it.

Evandar Holyfield has to be right up there also, I voted Ali but in my mind Holyfield is a close second.

I think you are a bit dimmed to understand the thread. This is about who is more technical not head to head. It is not my intention to say who beat who. Joe Louis is already one of the greatest of all time because of his skill set. I don't have a problem if you think Vitaly can knock him out. But I do have a problem if you say Vitaly is more technically gifted than joe Louis.
Again, please think a bit before you type. Peace.

If I wrote book detailing all of my knowledge of boxing, it would be about the size of the bible alright. Quite frankly Im the most solid poster here and probably know more about boxing than anyone else.

Getting knocked down 27 times or whatever against bum of the month club members would not be a recipe for success against much larger and more power Super Heavweights . Ranging from 175 lbs Billy Conn laying a beating on Louis until a come from behind stoppage to a short fatass brawler that didnt even bother training like Tony Galento flooring Louis.

To be honest Louis over powered his opponents more than anything else. Schmelling totally schooled ( same as Billy Conn was doing) Louis in everything a-z in boxing the first time and that was a total embarrassment. 185 lbs Marciano knocked him into the 3rd or 4th row, What do you think a 245 lbs Klitschko would do? I consider Louis more a big puncher fighter than a slick "technically skilled" boxer type.

Look at Wilson Kaydens Tyson breakdown. Great techniques to see.

Of the modern heavyweights Fury is the most skilled in my opinion.

Just because you have lots of number of post doesn't make you more knowledgable dude.
Plus your reading comprehension ain't that good. Joe Louis is recognised as the second greatest heavyweight off all time regardless his size. He is also recognised by every knowleable boxing people as p4p in the top 30 of all time. Your YouTube knowledge of highlight fight against galento, conn and Marciano doesn't impress me one tini bit.
AGAIN this is about technical skills not about size.

I'm telling you that Louis was more of a power fighter ( against much smaller fighters back then btw) then a highly "technically skilled" fighter ala someone like Larry Holmes or Ali. Schmelling and Conn thoroughly outboxed Louis in everything a-z boxing like I said, but Louis had huge power to bail him out. Do you think Schmelling would put a boxing clinic on Muhammed Ali like that?

Joe Louis by far and extract from a blog on this subject:

"Joe Louis is the best technician amongst all heavyweight punchers, the most complete fighter amongst all the heavyweight champions, the best in a combination of boxing skill and punching power. His punching accuracy is the best ever seen by a heavyweight on film. He has speed, power, and explosiveness, some of the best combination punching ever in any weight class of any time. Louis was the complete package. He holds the record for longest consecutive title reign at nearly 12 years and the most title defenses with 25, 21 of those are knockouts, 17 are ten counts, and 5 in the first round"

I'm just saying that Joe Louis is far more of the Dempsey, Frazier type that fights in seek and destroy mode rather than some master "technically skilled" slick boxer like Holmes, Ali, Lewis, Gypsy King Tyson Fury.

Of the seek and destroy type fighters, I would consider probably a young Mike Tyson the most technically skilled of the lot. Tyson's ability to slip the jab and throw devastating multi punch combinations on the inside was a thing of beauty.
