alexis arguello one of the most textbook fitghters of all time..hands always up and threw punches with such pureness...textbook left jab followed up with his granite right hand which is one the best of all time.
Thank you for the constructive criticism, who would you say? Hands held high, mid range, perfect bobbing and weaving technique, slightly crouched, knees slightly bent. It's all of the text book stuff they teach in the gym.
Joe Louis was as perfect a fighter you could get and he was a pure text book combo puncher. Look at Joe for perfect balance and execution of a punch, putting his weight behind a punch but leaving himself balanced and ready to throw another punch. Head and body he was the master and ATG fighting machine
At his best Ruben Olivares had it all. Ring generalship, infighting ability, punch variety, stamina, endurance, defence, footwork, intelligence and versatility and above all his one punch KO power. His chin wasn`t carved of stone, but it wasn`t as bad as many seem to think it was and if he was in shape he could take a good punch.
Mayweather is kind of iffy. His technique normally looks superior to anyone he fights, which is why I can see people saying his name. He also has a better speed/fluidity combination going for him than just about anyone I can think of. That combination is an athletic quality that sets him apart, and it makes you wonder if his technique would win fights on its own. I would have said Lopez and McCallum, but those were already mentioned. I'll say McGirt just to say a name I've yet to see. Benitez was good, but had some of the same athletic qualities Floyd jr. has.
Eddie Futch - I always used Conn as a model for the boxers in my gym. Even when he lost to Joe Louis in the 13th , i got all of the local papers, cut out the action photo's, and pasted them all over the gym. There were pictures of Conn executing all these maneuvers. I told my fighters, "this is how it should be done".
