    You are definitely on to something here, Bill, with Tyson in the heavyweight division.

    I believe he, along with Louis and Dempsey best applied the most fundamentals to their own style. This is why Larry Merchant marvelled at Tyson's destruction of Berbick, saying he fought the most perfect fight a man of his type of ability could possibly fight.

    oh yeah, i have never seen the fight but im a big fan of bones and id heard a large controversal cry on the first decision.

    ayala beat tapia twice, the first fight imo i though was fair but i thought tapia may have edged him in the second fight.

    ayala also had a very controversial decision agaist a talented fighter in denmark named johnny bredahl as well as hugo dianzo who i thought beat ayala but at least three points.

    Well, since this thread is still around...

    How about Buster Douglas? Excellent jab, nice footwork, good combinations are all reasons why he made it to the top of the division. His text book style made him good. His work ethic, and like of consistency, attributed to his not being great.
