Im ok giving Froch a freebie.

Burns vs Liam Walsh is pretty bad.

really has nothing to do with Froch or him having a freebie.

its more to do with the actual challenger himself, who

    A) has been knocked out 2 times in his last 5 fights
    B) Is not even in the same weight division

These should be PPV compared to Burns v Walsh. Walsh suffered a heavy knock down against Appleby.

But Walsh joins the list along with Laryea of beating Burn's friend Appleby and getting a title shot.

Thompson won 5 consecutive fights and an IBF elimination tournament to get his shot. His marquee win during that streak was against a solid unbroken Chazz Witherspoon. Mo Harris and Paul Marinaccio are also solid wins and Owen Beck and Adnan Serin are solid journeymen/gatekeepers.

Manny Charr was undefeated in 21 fights with solid wins over undefeated Gbenka Oloukun, Sherwin Williams, Taras Bydenko, Danny Williams, Luis Nasciemento, and credible journeymen like Zack Page, Robert Hawkins, Owen Beck, and Adnan Serin.

I would add that Thompson was supposed to have fought Eddie Chambers, widely regarded as the US best HW in the IBF final, but the fight was postponed once, and then Chambers stepped aside due to another injury. Thompson wanted that fight as well and was gonna make it for less than 50K.

And Manny Charr, as much as many want to hate him, is gonna be a solid contender for years to come. His resume is stacked with Clevel fighters and has passed every test at that level, proving he is nothing less than a B level fighter. He's fighting Juan Carlos Gomez in his comeback fight, a fight largely regarded as his biggest test outside his title challenge.:deal

    come on man

    a) thompson won those 5 consecutive fights over a

    period of time. :rofl

    b) the only "elimination" tourney he won was against Harris who had 14 ****ing losses.

how the hell do you consider Adnan Serin who had 2 wins in his last 8 fights with a record of 19-9-1 a "solid win"? that is pure garbage right there, same with owen beck , and Paul M having lost 3 of his last 6 fights, was anything but a "solid win" . any decent heavyweight would have blasted these guys out of the water in a round or 2.
at 41 years old, 5 fights in 4 years against pure unranked journey bums,it was a sad day to see this clown as a "mandatory" when he couldnt win 1 minute of any round. pathetic.
and charr is pretty much crap too....hes a bleeder and already looked like a tool for having his fight end the way it did...all that hype and it ends on a cut and he wasnt even a big enough presence to to at least get the benefit of his corner to at least try to stop the bleeding at least one time between rounds... :-( horrible

Good case could be made for this in the opposite order.
    Mehdi
    Arslan
    Mack

    Radically disagree with this.

Geale's third fight in the calendar year. Redeeming a loss. I actually believe Mundine is not too undeserving. Needless to say, beating Mundine means more than any of the above 3 mentions challengers.

Bellew was a good worthy opponent, though. Tommy Karpency was very laughable indeed, along with most the rest.

Yeah, I never understood how he could be ranked ahead of Shumenov at any time.

I'm a big fan of Ricky Burns but on a personal level,Liam Walsh is the challenger that is annoying me most at the moment.
Froch deserves a money fight more than anyone right now,so no need to slaughter Mack.

    Manuel Charr? Nobody.

    Tony Thompson:
    (Between Klitschko 1&2)
Maurice Harris 24-14-2 (IBF Eliminator) TKO3
    Paul Marinaccio 24-5-3 TKO4
    Owen Beck 29-4 TKO4
    Chazz Witherspoon 26-1 TKO9
    Adnan Serin 19-9-1 TKO5

So in the grand scheme of things, not much. The Owen Beck and Chazz Witherspoon wins at the time were good wins I suppose. But what got him back to the big show was that he gave the best gameplan to beat Klitschko the first time they fought which was to keep leather on him.
