No that was just Patterson not trying to defend against the best, Machen, Folly and a whole load of top contenders that never got there chance. Patterson had a weak rein imo.

ibragimov i remember having huge amounts of hype. the am expereince and the greats skills and workrate. coupled with his unusual high combos flurries coupled with a jab for a heavywieght was pretty spectacular bought it for me....then after a tough fight with ray austin...it all fell apart. no one trusted in him anymore.

he won a belt agaisnt briggs but clearly you coudlnt miss against an imovable object.

well i might be being harsh he did try agianst wlad but was clearly just to small. be all and end all.

I remember after Mayorga beat Forrest first time people were comparing him with Duran. And Joe Mesi was the next Marciano apparently, also after Honeyghan beat Curry people some were calling for Lloyd vs Ray Leonard.

i totally agree with that if you watch fights before he has losses he was the next big thing and it was a sure bet until well he got into the ring with another breathing fighter and i would also say the Audley he was the same as Guinn and had a gold but he was exposed fast

Grant was suppose to just walk in and ko Lewis in a round or 2 in there title fight. Needless to say, Grant didnt lived up to the hype.

No doubt but he had the skills and greatness to go with the attitude.
    Zab Judah didn't.

Good call. There was a lot of hype surrounding the Sultan after his blow out of Goofy, and it looked justified. Pity he turned out to be complete dog****.

What was wrong with Holmes? What else could he do? It takes two boxers to make fights like Ali-Frazier I, and you can't blame him HW was quite weak during his reign.

People kept comparing him to Ali and he was stuck in Ali's shaddow. People expected him to be as good or better than Muhammad.
